    Mickey Thompson 345 X 18 DR Mounted on a G5

This was not real easy, however, for those that want to mount the MT DR (345X18) on a G5, the first pic below show the results. The other pic is the stock wheels/corsa. If anyone is interested contact Nineball. Now that the R&D has been done, the only thing needed to make this work is bend the tubing that encloses the e-brake cable about 1/2" towards the center and the wheels/tires mount like oem. The MT DR is 1" taller, it is the perfect tire for anyone with a TT or nitrous G5.

What R&D had to be done? I had a set of those mounted on 18 inch CCW's over a year ago on my TA. Bought them from Junkie and bolted them right up with the slight bend on the E Brake cabling. I guess I'm confused, but we've known 18's bolt up without issue.

Andy, it was mostly about finding a concave wheel with a similar enough spoke pattern, and custom powdercoat to match the factory front wheels. Concave added its own challenge, gets very close to the caliper. I was the first to test fit an 18, and a 17, on a gen 5. But those were with 3-piece flat forgings which are easier to manipulate positions of the spoke location.

Looks Good JACKB. Looks like it came from the factory that way. Anxious to hear how they work in conjunction with the TC.

Looks great Jack! Has anybody ever thought about just taking 2 18" front wheels and having them widened to 13"?

Checking the math, that could certainly work. You could add 2" to the backside hoop and arrive at a 12.5 wide, or add 2.5" and arrive at 13.0 wide. Either should fit the rear of the Gen 5.

My only concern is doing that with the Sidewinder wheels, as they are rotary forged barrels and that means the thickness of the barrel is very thin. Not sure if welding some other barrels on there will keep the strength of the wheel. The non-sidewinders have thicker barrels, easier to weld.

Gotcha, turned out very nice and it's always good to have another set out there for people to switch to if need be!

Now if I could find a good skinny up front for drag days.

Looks good but would look better with matching fronts.

I'll be receiving a CCW drag pack set up in 2 weeks. 13inch wide rears, 6 inch wide fronts with a 185/50/18.

Curious what launching on those does to the clutch.

Jack has a special clutch he has been working on I think it will be very stout for the drags.

lol this. I've had 345/35/18 MT's on my car since a few weeks after I bought it.

Either way, awesome tire and awesome combo. I'd like to see someone do the same size with M&H because its a touch narrower and 28" tall
