    Fluid Around Diff

I bought a '13 a few months back and just took it in for the first oil change at 900 miles. The service manager showed me some fluid that has been slung above the diff. I’m assuming it’s diff fluid and not brake fluid. Anyone else had that problem?
This particular dealership doesn't have a certified Viper tech ... sooo I'm not 100% sure I want to take it back there. I don't have any reason to question their abilities, but I'm a little picky about my car.

Can you give us some information about where you are located, and we can perhaps recommend a dealer with a good Viper tech.

You mention the fluid is "slung" around the diff. If I had to guess I would say the pinion seal went in the diff and needs to be replaced.

If the diff. was slightly overfilled, the excess fluid will will escape through the vent on top of the diff. when it gets hot.
(This is what has happened on my Gen 4 anyway)

I'm in Southern California - Long Beach to be specific.

    Thanks.

The pattern and position of the fluid will tell you if it is the pinion seal or the overflow. Why did they pull the belly pan.

Seems like the fluid was evenly sprayed mainly around the pinion seal area. Maybe that's the most likely scenario. If I was using my brain I would have taken a picture. They said they pulled the pan as a routine part of the oil change just to inspect the diff area. I don't think there was any indication of a leak until they pulled it, but I'll have to ask them to be sure.

I know people who have been tracking their Mustangs notice a spray of fluid above the rear axle caused by venting of the heated diff fluid. I had never tracked my mustang but did do some launches and later noticed a similar spray when i was under the car. The diff is a quality torsen piece, so it doesnt take much i guess. Your location being california also points in the direction of it being a vented diff.
