Mobil 1 15W-50 should work quite well.

I use amsoil for my 5.0. I wish there was a knowledgeable oil person that uses amsoil and runs it on his viper, or vipers.

Full synthetic is clearly a must.

I do prefer Amsoil, but Mobil1 also works. The good news about our cars is that they do an excellent job cooling the oil, unlike pretty much anything GM makes. Camaros and C7 Vettes run dangerously hot oil.

I've used Amsoil for over 20 years , but have been told by a very good source it's Not the preferred oil ! And Highly recommended Pennzoil or Mobil 1 due to there manufacturer interaction ! Mobil 1 5w50 I believe was developed for engines spinning to 8500 rpm . fwiw

Funny thing is, very good sources have given me completely opposite advice on two things: brake pads and oil. They're a little like religion, haha. Now I just make sure that I have a quality synthetic between 5W-50 and 15W-50 and don't worry beyond that.

15W 50 - that weight for temp and shear? Assuming you can't get that in a lower weight?

I've been using Motul 15w-50 300V Competition. Can't promise that it is any better than Mobil One or any other brand, but the car does seem to run very smooth with it.

I've run Amsoil in my track car for years, it's great stuff. Again, I've also run Mobil 1. As long as you are using a quality synthetic oil at a good viscosity (5W-50 to 15W-50) I don't think you need to be concerned beyond that.

I change my oil after 2 track days of 5 x 20 min. each, but I went with the standard recommended Mobil 0-40W. Should I be concerned or better to go with 5-50 or 15-50 before the next one.?
Note: I'm not hard on the car and only push it to about 8/10th of it's capabilities.

If you are tracking you need to be using the thicker oil. I change my oil every event and still use the thicker stuff. Cheap insurance.

Thanks, I'll switch to the thicker oil. Got 2 more track days ahead, one at Calabogie Ontario and one at Mont-Tremblant Quebec

Sounds fun. I'd head up but committed to another deal this weekend and the next two. You going to Saxtons in October. I just got the flier. I'm probably gonna go.

Is it thicker than Mopar's fully synthetic which is recommended in the Viper manual? I tracked with it one time still looks good!
