Will 15 50 oil help the car run cooler on the track? Chasing a cooling problem on my 15 TA.

Since every Gen V is still under warranty isn't the smart move to continue with the factory 0-40? I'd hate to see a warranty claim denied because a person wasn't using the factory weight. And I mean that both on and off the track. Jon's point about street driving on 15-50 could be an issue for someone with an unfortunate early engine failure. And if you're following all factory recommendations and the engine goes at the track I've heard warranty will be honored (one specific story of a Gen IV with an extended warranty covering a full engine replacement that failed on track comes to mind).

Cold weather demands the longer 5-minute warmup. And before you go blasting WOT to impress the neighbors, be sure you have some temp indicated in the oil. (G3-4-5 show oil temp)

Even though it displays HIGH oil Pressure past the sensor, its not going to do its best job til it has some temp built up and circulated well.

If you choose 0-40 or 5-50 oils, you should still warm it a minute, and save WOT til you know the engine's blood is warmed a bit.
Thanks JonB for this, and if it's not too much to ask, what would be the side affects of not doing the warm up as recommended? I just would love to have a better understanding about it if possible.

Our market have the Motul 15w-50 300V Competition available and I'm thinking to switch to it for the upcoming track events.

    Thanks,

And the warm up would be required on a dead cold start at the track I believe also.

At the ambient temps you live at, you'll sell the car long before the weight of the oil will effect its longevity. Run a good quality oil and most importantly don't run out of oil. No oil will save a motor if the motor has a defect, period.

Warming up the car (by driving easy the first 3-4 miles) will have more impact on the longevity of your car than any oil brand or weight you use. Not only will your motor thank you, but so with the trans and rear end. Once up to operating temps, run her as hard as you want.

I just finished my 2nd track night. So I may have a total of 100 miles on the track and out of those 100 miles 60 are at race speed. All of you are telling me you need a oil change after every event? But you go 3000 miles if you drive on the street. I don't know about anyone else but I for one push my car on the street. Maybe a little less then the track but I drive it like I stole it. Why else would you own a street legal race car. I let my car warm up no matter what the temps are and go at least 5 miles to get everything warm. This just seems a bit much I could see if you are running 3 hours balls out but doing a 3 x 20 run over 3 hours and the oil temps are no where close to getting high just seams like over kill. That's just my 2 cents
