Is there such a thing on a gen 5 Viper?

yes, you look at your mileage and at around 5,000 miles you change your oil. That or once every 6 months

no oil life indicator as far as I know

I really wish we had an electronic dipstick though

A low oil indicator would have been a good idea and possibly saved a few owners a lot of grief.
Sure, you should know enough to check the oil now and then but some Gen V cars were burning a couple quarts in less than a 1000 miles. Ridiculous.

Ok since this thread went sideways, I can add the following:

When I had my oil changed at the Dodge dealership ~ two months back, the Viper Tech said he reset my oil life indicator. At the time I was thinking, huh, I never knew my car had one. Since then on two separate occasions I tired to find it on the dash or Uconnect etc. with no success.

So I am starting to wonder if the Viper Tech was Bsing me or not?

Call me old school but I like to peep in there every few weeks for my own sanity. Way I see it, they hacked UConnect, can't trust technology too much!

I would say he was BS'ing you. No mention of it in the owners manual, Service Manual, or in the buttons that control the cluster guages.

Make him show you how its reset...

The owners manual would have mentioned it if it had one.

And someone else with a Gen V would have confirmed that it existed.

Has anyone watched the dvd that the viper comes with (it's located in the owners manual)? In the dvd I have, it says there is a oil change indicator and gives instruction on how to reset it. I'm currently at 9k miles and have already done my third oil change and the "oil change light" has never come on for me to reset.

I never got the DVD with my car as I bought it used. So I have an excuse. You can PM me how to do it if you don't want to share with the common lazy folk on here.

There is no way to do it as the indicator light has never come on it doesn't exist. The same dvd shows you how to start your viper via remote start. Some wrong info in the dvd....

I can confirm that depressing the gas pedal slowly 3 times within 10 seconds with the car in "Run" does absolutely nothing.......dough!!!
