Awesome. When I bought my first Viper I drove it from Los Angeles to Northern Alberta, almost exactly 2000 miles. Indeed a great way to get to know the car. Great pics too.

Now that's some test drive! Sounds like you and your Dad have some memories that will last a life time. Good luck with your new ride.

Congratulations on your outstanding purchase, and thanks for sharing such a great story. You're going to love the TA relentlessly

My only concern with the long trips is the Corsas - due to their stickiness, they are very prone to picking everything up. Already had 1 nail. If you're stuck in BFE with a flat, it's not only getting a flatbed, to get to a shop, and get a tire in, but hoping that the shop in BFE has a machine that can do it. Other than that, I've always wanted to take a long trip in the Viper, on some wide open road.

    Great pics too!

I am SO jealous, of the car AND the trip! I need to sell my Viper so that I can go buy another one from somewhere across the country. I missed my opportunity the first time around and it would have been perfect - bought it from LA and had it shipped to WI.

Great write up! I had to laugh that most pics were at the gas station haha

Great Story; Great Travelogue. Thanks for sharing.

Ive done the 2600+ miles Viper trips x 4 from CAAP and Indy. All great memories.

ps: Are the TA Corsa tire pressures SUPPOSED to be 37/38 as shown on your dash? Sounds high unless HOT. ??

Thank you very much, everyone! I'm glad you liked the story and pictures. I could have gone on an on with the story and pictures, but figured you guys would give up after 20+ pictures, haha.

I'm sorry to hear that. A very close friend of mine lost his dad a few years back and that's what got me... he texted me while on our road trip and said "Enjoy every moment of this trip with your dad. I'd do anything to have that same experience with my dad."

Thanks, Doug. Now I can finally install your heat shield that I've had anticipating the purchase.

Troy, definitely let me know. I'll make sure the drive the Viper whenever you can meet up.

Haha, once again thank you very much for offering to check out that other car for me. I'm glad I did not settle for that one...

Glad to see you finally got what you where looking for Ryan. Looking forward to seeing it next month at the DuPont Registry
I'll definitely be at DuPont next month. Unfortunately, I thought it was going to be raining on Saturday and didn't make it out there even though it didn't end up raining.

Sorry the Dragon didn't work out. I would have met up for sure if I was back in time too
Thank, Rahn. I was really looking forward to the Dragon, but the news was blasting the "severe weather" risk non-stop and didn't want to take any chances.

I'll be driving this car a lot more than my previous Vipers, but it will not be my DD...even though I'm very tempted to sell my daily and make the Viper the DD. That's how good the new Gen V is! Since I got home with the car Tuesday night, I drove it every day up until Sunday and put on another 200 miles.

The ride was a lot more comfortable than I expected. I had KWs on my first Viper and then Penskes on my second, but I feel that the TA drove even smoother than both of them (Race setting is a different story). The interior temperatures are far reduced compared to the Gen 3 and it will get even better once I replace the OEM cats. The best I could ever muster out of my last cars was 14mpg, but was able to achieve 18mpg across the entire road trip. All the creature comforts (Bluetooth, Nav, dash displays, etc.) are something I've never had and made the car that much better to drive for 10hs every day for 4 days straight. The best part...neither my dad, nor I, complained of any discomfort after being in the car for so long.

I immediately noticed the stickiness of the Corsas...could hear every little pebble being kicked up and hitting the inner fenders. My lifesaver on this trip is that the car has a 3M clear bra on the front bumper, half the hoof, half the roof, entire side sills, and on the rear bumper behind the wheels.

He didn't. He's never asked to, but at the same time I don't think I've ever offered. He offered numerous times on the road trip to make sure I wasn't drowsy, but he was the one dosing off on the trip.

Thanks for pointing that out, Jon. I'll have to check that...I always drove with the MPG screen up and never compared the hot/cold temps.

  22. #47
Corsa "cold" pressure should be 29+/-, mine usually warm up to 32-34 this time of year (temps 90+).

I drive with my tire pressure screen up constantly. It was how I noticed that I had picked up a nail, as my left rear was 5 lbs less than the other 3.

I'm glad to see others do these trips, nothing builds better memories about a car. Drove my first one from Bowling Green back to Houston, and my second Viper from Detroit back to Houston.

Thanks for sharing your trip! Hope you and your father had a ball (Looks like it!)... Nice to see you guys lucked out with the weather. It seems like all I've been hearing about are intense storms scattered across the country.
