FIRST ROAD TRIP WITH MY 2013 GTS - 4000 km (2500 miles) in a week

So my son Nicholas and I just went on a road trip to Vancouver to visit the folks in Lions Bay. It is a little over 1700 km each way (just over 1000 miles) and we did it straight through each way, with the car running for just under 16 hrs. It didn't use a drop of oil, on either leg, and ran flawlessly throughout the entire trip. In total, I put about 4000 km on the car in the span of a week, and we had a blast!! At no point did I worry about the car breaking down, and people in Vancouver absolutely loved it. There were a lot of pictures taken by passers by and from other cars, questions asked at gas stations and elsewhere, and thumbs up throughout the trip. I can also say, having done this trip several times in my Honda S2000, and Subaru WRX STi, I arrived more rested than I have ever been. Also, the gas mileage was pretty much on par with the Subaru, which is impressive for a V10. This car has a range of just over 500 km (312 miles) out on the open road, so it's time to get out and stretch your legs at each fuel stop. There was plenty of room to carry all of our clothes etc. and some additional items we picked up during the trip. And no speeding tickets. Now that's a win-win.

Anyone considering a road trip with their Viper should absolutely get on it while the summer lasts. You won't regret it. The more I drive this car, the more I love it. Whether you are dropping it down a couple of gears to pass traffic, or just cruising at speed, it will do it all day long.......literally. What an awesome machine!!!!!!!

Looks like you had fun and your my hero for tacking lots of miles in a short period of time on your Viper. I doubt very few people out in the
automotive world look at the Viper as a car to use in this way,Bravo!
PS: Did your son get to drive it,lol ?

Haha, he is gonna need to work his way up to the Viper just like I did. S2000------>STi---------->Viper. Yep, not many people view this car is a long distance vehicle, but it is perfectly capable of covering some serious distance in relative comfort for a sports car. It was up to the task in every respect. Enjoy your new ride as well!!!

Sounds like fun...you drive through Reve, one of the previous places I lived? Almost lost my Cobra there for driving allegedly driving 50 kms over the limit while passing 2 semi's on the single lane part of the highway there.

Not sure. The route was Meadow down to North Battleford, and then the 16 all the way to Kamloops and into Vancouver. I had a similar experience in my STi outside Valemount, B.C. two summers ago. I was passing a string of cars and a Mountie was parked down on an access/rest stop road who caught me passing the last car 186km/hr. Ooops. Yeah, the STi had to sit for a week in Valemount and I had to take the Greyhound home. That sucked!!!!!

Which is strange. The car sucks to get in and out of, which means I would rather just stay in it. So long road trips are just common sense.

Ouch! Me and another member here got pinched in a laser trap set up just for us about 5km outside Revelstoke a couple years ago. They hit me doing 59km/h over passing the last vehicle at the end of that passing lane. They threatened to take the cars and gave us a stern talking to. Ended up getting let go with a small speeding fine. Lucky us!

Yep exact same scenario. It would almost seem as though they like to sit right at the end of passing lanes on two lane roads....hmmmm. Good to hear you were lucky. I think the ticket I received was $500.00 but what really sucked was the impound charges for a week and the Greyhound Bus ride.....arrrgggg. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
