I think I died and woke up in Viper heaven this morning. This is pure bliss! Finally the Viper is getting the respect it has long deserved. I so wish I could be at VIR today spectating. Levitas there with his TPC Tractive Porsche, Keating in the GT3R and SRT with the new ACR turning insane times. Does it get much better?

Here are the SCCA class records for that VIR 3.2 layout. Keep in mind that this list is all modified cars. It has already beaten the T1 record, which is very impressive.

Also, back when the Gen 4 ACR broke the record, it was a 2:00.6 lap. Here is the video of that. Puts things into perspective, 4 seconds is a LOT.

Car #34 Brad Wood - that car is a TA2.0

Found the registration sheet on facebook. No ACR at the time.

Here is the facebook page for the event. Maybe they will post results later?

Time shows Chris Winkler though, and he is one of the two well know Test Driver/Engineers for the Viper. He set the 1:33 time for the ACR at Laguna Seca.

Is the "SRT" listed actually the ACR on that sheet?

I just read Randy's Motor Trend review. Spot on. Whatever preconceptions the media had about the Viper is getting shattered by guys that know that is one of the last pure street legal track cars. The C7 Z06 is now aimed towards the non track rat, which is a shame. Love theViper

I just found out that if you get the dual white stripes they paint the wing body color which is really a bummer. I can't see why they would ever paint over all that carbon. I'm trying to figure out how to get the gts-r blue and white stripe with a exposed carbon wing.

It's funny how people always think it needs to be "Randy P" for the fast lap times, when actually Chris's Gen 4 ACR time was quicker then any of Randy's attempts in the Gen 4 ACR.

It is probably just as simple as telling them to do it that way. Order from the right dealer, they will make it happen.

"I felt a little sorry for SRT as that new ‘Vette is a monster. Well I’ve just stepped from the latest counterattack of this rival Detroit gang: the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, and I’m not mincing words, friends. This car will send the Z07 back to the garage for upgrades. SRT has come back with guns blazing."
"Stir in the asking price of $122,490 (including $2,495 for destination and a $2,100 gas guzzler tax), and this street-legal track killer is an absolute grand slam. For the highways of this great country, that wing is outrageous. The splitter is nuts. Vipers have always been outrageous, and now the ACR version measures up to the hype and beyond. The beast has got a leash, and with no loss of ferocity."

Randy Pobst seems to like the ACR

All those ACR paint jobs look incredible. I think the classic red/black is my favorite though.

You sure it isn't Sam copying from Pete? There's an awful lot of that which goes on. Remember, we're talking about writers that are rewarded on controversy.

That's who I've been talking to, he said it takes a act of god to get them to change anything. Hopefully I can talk to someone at prefix who will do it for me. If not I guess I'll live with it.

I believe that was a journalist's time, under SRT's instructions of leaving some on the table.

That was Chris Winklers time, he's not a journalist. He's an SRT engineer

The ViperExchange GT3-R is running 1:46's. SRT threw a new ACR into the mix, it's running 56's currently.
I believe a 56 is right on the track record ( In this configuration ) for a production car and I think that was an 800HP GTR driven by a very experienced VCA Driver.( We'll have to verify) Best, Allan

When did Nissan make an 800hp GTR?
