    Issue with 2014

I recently started hearing an annoying whistling noise that sounds like it might be coming from the rear end. It only happens when I reach 70 mph and only happens while the accelerator is engaged. If I let off the gas, the noise stops. Originally, I thought it might be a tire problem, but the fact that it stops if I let off the gas suggests it's something else. As soon as I give it any gas, even just enough to maintain speed, the noise returns.

    Any suggestions?

Have you checked your gas tank cap to insure its closed completely?

Yes, the gas cap is closed completely.

My Corsas whine at higher speeds on certain road surfaces. However, a few of these cars have had the diffs replaced under warranty.

My 2006 SRT Jeep did the exact same thing. I never did figure out what it was.

A bad diff starts with a noise that manifests itself when the throttle is between slight power and coast. In general, if under load there is no diff whine early in the failure model, again, generalities.

This certainly sounds like my symptoms.

Is it safe to continue driving it until I can get it looked at?

Are you in a certain gear when it happens? My new 06' did this and turned out to be the tranny which Dodge replaced under warranty but started like this. Made the whistle under load in 5th and 6th but not not 4th. As it was not always there in all gears, it ruled out the rear end. Replaced tranny and it never came back. Was this way in my case anyway.

My car makes a similar noise. Sound appears to come from rear. Do you have the A/C fan turned up all the way? If so, turn it down see if the noise goes away. It does on mine, why? I have no idea.

The AC vents whistle a bit when they're closed or almost closed.

I've confirmed it does it in all gears between 3rd and 6th. Also confirmed its not the a/c blower or vents.

When they replace the differential under warranty do they replace the entire axle or just the gears?

This is not the AC vents though. It honestly seems to come from the rear, a trick of acoustics maybe? Either way turning the fan from max eliminates the sound.

George, have you tried lowering the window slightly to release the cabin pressure. I had a GMC truck once that did that from new. I had to always lower the window slightly or I would get ghost whistles all over the damn place.

Had my diff replaced at 4k miles. Could be that, mine started whining.
