Odd title considering the price differential between the top 6.
Considering Viper and Corvette aren't muscle cars, the list should be a bit shorter...
"Goggled" Muscle Car definition found this:
Muscle car is an American term used to refer to a variety of high-performance automobiles. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."
Having been a teenager in the 70's, Vette's back them were considered "Muscle Cars" so I'd assume they still fit in the category today, as much as some Viper owners would not agree the Viper is a muscle carand made to compete against other muscle cars.
Glad to see us here in Texas are doing our usual and pulling the rest of you weak bastards with us.
Free publicity GO VIPER!!!!!!!
I'm heading out to Vancouver on Friday to visit my family. While there I'm going to check out my grandmother's (she's 89 years old) new car: a black 2015 Mustang. Nuf said.
That's just awesome! Go granny go granny go granny goooooo! The Beach Boys
I found the percentage of financing part of the article interesting. How almost a third of the Viper sales are cash purchases, only behind the Vette in cash buyers. Maybe my local dealer could have read this before I started talking to them. They must have asked me a dozen times over the week I was talking to them, "So no financing for sure??"
Read that yesterday
Viper is totally a Muscle car.
Now my 2 door 1973 Lincoln Mark 4 may have a 460 and dual exhaust... but I don't know if that is considered a muscle car really...
I'm 2 for 6. Yay, me.
Nice!!! She has always had some pretty cool cars. She traded in her '06 Mustang for this one. Apparently she really likes it.
As far as "muscle car" status goes. I have to say, I just don't see the Viper fitting into any one category. It is such a unique car in so many ways that, for me, you just can't put a label on it other than "Viper".

Sports cars =2 seater
Muscle Car = 4 seater
but regardless of what you think, great press for the Viper
Bruce
Speaking of great Viper press, I happened across the video for "It's been a long day without you my friend", just a couple of days ago, and I was pleased to see the amount of Viper footage there was in the video. In fact, compared to the new Dodge "Predators" ad, the music video features the Viper far better IMHO. Very cool.
A priceless, Most Wanted list that did not include a Ford GT? So much for credibility...
"A list of affordable, American made cars that are currently highly coveted" would have been a more accurate name.
They most certainly are not.
Correct.
Muscle car's are 2-door, 4 seater's designed primarily only for straight line speed and do not have a "sophisticated chassis", "engineering integrity", or "lithe appearance". The Viper is actually quite far from muscle-car classification.
