    SRT DashBoard HP rating Accurate?

So i did some pulls today DA 6500. I had my friend look at the SRT screen under Engine to see HP. He said the highest he saw was 556. We did like 3 pulls 0-120 or so. The car felt ok for that DA.

How accurate is the factory Hp reader ? My car 100% stock. Interested in knowing what you guys see stock and modified.

    thanks!

I haven't had a friend watch mine yet. But I know playing with it that it goes over 700hp without redline, I do have headers & tune. I'm hitting a dyno in a week, I plan on putting someone in the car to watch this so I can compare dyno to dash numbers, for the fun of it at least.

Maybe heat, DA was choking it down, 540+ would be a good rwhp number and the dash is trying to display crank, sooooo.

Bottom line: the numbers are based on a calculation done by the PCM, not an actual measured value. Take the numbers with a grain of salt.

Given the DA, I'd expect numbers in that range FWIW.

    1st gear pull I imagine.

When I've played with it I've done 3rd gear rolls. I think 4th would be impossible here without getting shot from a trooper in a chopper.

Is it crank HP being calculated or Rwhp ? I know it really means nothing. Was just curious how Dodge is calculating the numbers.

It would be at the crank.

6,500' DA kills power, no doubt about it.

Even if the numbers are not accurate, would it be safe to assume that it would recognize any gains from bolt on's?

I'll give you the standard engineering answer: it depends. I'm not exactly sure what goes into the calculation...I'm guessing airflow and timing are involved, but not sure what other information might be used. Again, the number displayed is a function of a calculation, and that calculation has assumptions built in. I think it's fair to say that based off the number shown in the picture above (793), I'd say that it can't be trusted to tell you the true effect of any modifications done.

I dismissed mine as inaccurate the second I saw it on the car the first time. however, curious to know the parameters that are measured to calc it.

Having used mine over a wide range of DAs I am convinced that it's very accurate. I saw 540-550 after seeing a top speed of 170 at a DA of about 8000. Back down at 0FT with 50F air I'm seeing numbers like pdv25 on halfway decent (not California Cat Pee) gasoline. It's probably optimistic, but it's consistent.

For a totally stock car, I'd expect it...the further you are away from stock, the more off it will be.
