Matt Black Sidewinder rims , Impossible to keep clean !

This pattern of a wheel is a pain in the ass to clean! I went for a 20 minute drive and they are full of brake dust again.I was driving normal.

Anyone have any suggestions ? Wax the rims? change the pads ceramic ?

let me know what you use to reduce brake dust. Any help would be appreciated!

I 100% agree, the Matt black finish is the hardest color I've ever had to clean. Even when I'm done I can still find brake dust in nooks and crannies that I've missed, and that's even after taking the rims off to clean!

I've tried special wheel cleaning solutions. Special sealants. Nothing works.

I wish wheel finish would have been an option for the 14 TAs, I would have gone with the Hyper Black that I had on my 13. They were MUCH easier to keep looking clean.

The worst. 5 miles after you broke your back to clean them they look dirty again. But they look damn good when clean though!

I don't know if they are any good on a Viper but my 05 SRT10 Ram had the absolute worst brake dust problem. They come with 15" brakes and gigantic 4 piston calipers and 22" wheels. The brake dust was horrific- best I could do was 12 minutes per wheel to clean them.

I switched to EBC greenstuff pads and have zero brake dust problems and still have great performance. I don't know if they make them for the Viper though.

I got black ones so I wouldn't have to clean them as often.

Brake dust seems to be dark gray/black in color, would think matte black wheels would hide it lol. With my Hyper Sidewinder II's it seems hard to keep them clean. All those darn small areas. It seems like brake dust has a high affinity to "sticking" to stuff for some reason. Wax/polish doesn't seem to help much warding it sticking. But they do look great so it's worth it.

As I suspected, doing a little research I've found it's the charge of the particles that makes brake dust stick so well to things. Even highly "slick" things. Not sure if this article is affiliated with armor all at all, but it seems to get really good reviews:

    For $6 I'll give it a try.

If you have no plans to take it on a track, I'd suggest ceramic pads. Those put off very little brake dust, but give up some of the braking bite too.

Wheel Woolies and a Speed Master wheel brush make cleaning my black Sidewinders a lot easier. I apply Rejex a couple times a year and that seems to help.

Had them on my C7 and honestly there was still brake dust.Instead of 10 mile drive it would take 13 mile drive...

Zybane let me know if that stuff works. I bought this crap called Wipe New. My buddy swears by them on his truck.. Followed instruction and same crap 20 min of driving and same amount of dust only harder to remove lol

Definitely hear you on the nooks and crannies. lol also try getting your arm all the way in full depth of the wheel is impossible and my fingers are sore after putting in all the little holes. my power sprayer on about 20 psi so ever with a little bit of soap seems to do the trick. Can't complain much because they are damn good looking wheels and think better than hyper black for sure. not sure if I like to go to ceramic because thinking about taking to the track myself

This! Just don't touch them, eventually it will all turn the same color..... but then again I'd rather drive it than clean it.

I've got a couple sets of brand new Hawk Ceramic pads I bought in error a while ago. Supposedly good for low dust and being quiet. But I use this car on the roadcourse, so they aren't much use to me. 100 bucks plus shipping for both sets to anyone who wants em.

I don't have my car yet but I've used the Armor All wheel protectant on the gray wheels on my Grand Sport Corvette and it worked really well.

Spayed it on after every wash and even after 1 week of daily driving there was little to no brake dust.

That stuff is STRONG. Do NOT breathe it
    Wear gloves.

P21s total auto wash or the p21s gel wheel cleaners work really well with a Daytona speed brush.

You just can't let yourself worry about brake dust between the spokes or you'll drive yourself crazy. Life's too short.
