    New pads are a MUST for anyone tracking!

    Picked up a set of Carbotech XP20 (front) and XP10 (rear) from Mark before my outting at Laguna Seca last weekend. Laguna is known to be very hard on brakes, and in the previous few times I had been there I was overheating the stock TA brembos to the point where they were pretty scary by the end of the day.

    My impressions -

    Absolutely a must for anyone seriously tracking their car. The stopping power is incredible. They have extreme initial bite and great feel when trail braking on turn in. It really does feel like I put a Big Brake kit on the car. More than enough stopping power and zero fade throughout the whole day.

    You won't believe how much potential the stock braking system has until you try these Carbotechs!

    Yes, but depending on if you have ABS or not you can't go to crazy on compound in a Gen 2 though. You put an XP20 on a non ABS car you WILL lock it up. I ran an XP12 / 10 combo on my Stoptech non ABS Gen 2 and it was pretty solid.

    Amen, brother Chris. After exceeding the temp rating of the stock pads last weekend and having them completely disintegrate, I proved your point that track pads are mandatory.

    I'm having brake duct plates custom fabricated and ducts fabbed and installed on the Viper now. I'm pretty sure I need ducting as well as track pads and TA rotors for their greater thermal mass. Once you run slicks and at the rate you are getting faster, you may want them too. I'll post a thread when they're done. The plan is for the fab shop to have them available for sale for anyone else that wants them.

    I am going to try Cobalt Friction pads next time around, probably XR1 fronts and XR3 rears. If I don't like them, the Carbotechs are going on.

    Agreed. I can't believe how much initial bite my TA has now, with those same pads. It really does feel like a different brake system was installed.
