Love my Gen5, Hate the seats! Gen3/4 Seats in a Gen5??

Just wondering if anyone has tried to put a Gen3/4 seat in a Gen5? I am thinking about it as I really don't like the seats in my Gen5, I just find them to be very uncomfortable.

Any ideas about how they fit and what problems I might have with sensors and such would be appreciated.

Have you tried the ballistic nylon TA seats for comfort? I think yours may have the leather GTS seats which some seem to find uncomfortable.

I must be in the minority. I think the G5 seats are great.

The G3/4 seats were my least favorite. G2 are ok; but lets be real they're all about the same level of uncomfortable after being in them an hour.

I'm not sure how they missed the pivot point on the G5 seat. It's further up than it needs to be for most men so lumbar support area is kind of weird.

Agreed, the GTS seats don't fit me as well as my nylon ones..... not sure why, aren't they the same frames?

They fit me a lot better than my Gen 3 seats, but then again, every body is different.

I hate the 3 and 4 seats compared to the gen 5 seat, but I have the nylon, the laguna leather one looks like hell with the ass in them all stretched out

^^^This plus a 1000. Really bad design on the seats.

Agree with Bruce, the seats that come in the SRT model to me are great 4-5 hour drives not a problem at all. Compared to my Gen III seats, I would prefer the ballistic nylon for comfort and support and for cleaning.

I think some have said a small lower back pillow have helped with the comfort of the seat due to position of the lumbar support.

My wife and I both have lower backs that just can't handle seats with poor lumber and thigh supports or we end up with sore backs or hips. In all honestly we find the TA's nylon (same seat in SRT I gather) to be supportive and comfortable, and have done several 7.5-8.5 hour days with just stops for gas and a quick bite. I had to frequently adjust the 14 way seat in the XKR during a longer trip, and had two small pillows that I'd move around in the Supra on long trips. The MR2 is fiddle-free like the TA. Most seats usually feel fine for the first while, but the acid test is on longer drives, and two or three of them back to back as we have done. We'll be driving the TA three 7-8 hour days in a row to get to NVE2 in New Orleans next year and not the least bit concerned.

It makes sense that the leather seats would fit differently because of all the extra padding that will compress unevenly. So if the leathers don't work for anyone they really should try the nylon seat...I don't think I've ever heard from someone that doesn't find them comfortable.

Opinion - I have had vipers with G1, G2 and G4 seats, my current G5 leather seats are the best by far.

I put G4 seats in my G2, it was not easy, the G4 seat is much larger. I would doubt the G4 seats would fit into the G5, for sure, it would not be adjustable.

The fact that so many people have issues with the Gen 5 seats says it all. While there are certainly some people that like them there are enough others who, like me, have to use a lower back pillow. It is all about the pivot point. Fix that and you will fix the seat. Run your hand down the back of the seat when you get to the pivot point your hand will feel the hole that is there. This is my greatest disappointment with the Gen 5.

I have the leather SRT seats so just curious if they are the same frame and padding as the Ballistic cloth and just have a different surface ? I think they feel fine and people have told me that they feel far better than Gen3-4 seats.

I will trade you my Gen 1 seats. They're known for their comfort, I swear!!

When I drove a new 2015 SRT in Detroit last month, I did find the less complex/ non leather seats more comfortable also. It seemed like the Pivot point was indeed lower in the seatback and that the thigh bolsters was thinner.

I still LOVE my GTS Sephia seats though. The SRT seats just seemed a little bit more comfortable.

My wife and I put 250 miles on the car a few weeks back and during the 5 hours in the car- we never got uncomfortable- other than Chloe wanted to recline the seat and sleep

I will say I raced around Wayne Ruh's red with silver stripe GEN V at the autocross at NVE1 and it had the Venzano Interior. Those Venzano seats were flat out awesome and extremely comfortable. I then rode in George's GTS that same day and went around the Chelsea Oval. There is a big, big difference and I can see why you dislike yours George as they were just off (really felt the pivot point). It is the same seat in both but whatever Venzano does to those seats (new padding and comfort stripes, etc. ) it totally changes the seat feel. Should be an option on these cars.

Then again my GEN 1 seats are the most comfortable for me personally. They feel better than my GEN III seats in my 06'. My shoulders are wide so those GEN III seats always seemed to rub me the wrong way.

When Wayne got his first Gen 5, he complained about the seats as well. He told me he had Venzano add padding to the lower part of the seat when he had his interior done.

I've got an SRT with the upgraded leather seats. Really enjoy the fit and feel. It's amazing they still look like brand new after 2,500 miles with no sign of wear. Drove 3 hr's to a 1/2 mile event. Then 3 hr's fun/track time & then 4 hr's back in traffic.. Long day, but the ride & the comfy seats were really good(no complant's).

Well at least I'm not the only one
My car has leather GTS seats, not the Laguna. The thing is my seats have orange thread like the TA seats because its a Carbon car. I thought Copperhead seats would look okay as they had orange stitching as well. Maybe I should make up a customs set of Gen2 seats to match the car, as it was mentioned the gen3 seat may be to big.

I have the Laguna seats and yesterday my low back really bothered me after a longer drive, which was the first time that happened. Plus I find these seats appear to be made for guys with skinny backs as they dig into my upper lats.

However, overall the leather seats feel very cozy and look amazing...just hope my low back issue doesn't pop up again b/c that would suck.

My GenV laguna seats are miles better than my Gen3 seats were. They could use a little more lumbar for sure, but at least it is bearable. The Gen3 seats were crippling without a back pillow

My Laguna Leather seats are awesome in both looks and support. You just need to adjust them for what you are doing--cruzing vs. serious driving. I guess they could use power adustable lumbar and lateral (wing) support like BMW but they are still very nice. These seats are light years better than the canvas or part leather seats and really make the car feel like a quality piece on par with the European competition. Each to their own.

I liked my Gen2 seats the best. They fit me like a glove and had lumbar support. Gen2 seats in a gen5 anyone?

I absolutely love the cloth/leather seats in my E92 M3, best seats ever for a daily/weekend car. Although for cruising the seats in the '15 suburban are perfect for long drives. By contrast my wife loves the seats in the LS460L but I can never seem to get that perfect adjustment.

What we really need is a bench seat option with a column shift. That would be the ticket.
