Plastic dip wheels

I decided to do a plastic dip on my wheels. It looks pretty good.

Got anymore side profile shots? I'm curious since we have the same wheel set-up. Not sure I'd do it, but I have been curious what a it would look like. Or perhaps a gunmetal color would have looked like.

The wheels look good, but what the hell is wrong with the rest of the car? It looks like you've wet sanded half of it or something.

As far as as plastidip, I love the stuff. I did my track wheels first to see how it looked and if it would hold up. After seeing how well it stayed on, I did the wheels, grill, mirrors, etc (anything chrome) on my H2. After that I did the 6 spokes on the Viper.
I just stripped the black off the 6 spokes and I'm doing the anthracite gray with a coat of glossifier to match the stripes on the car.

If I ever get on the track I planned to coat the front and a few spots on the car to keep it protected. It's easier than taping up the car.

Yes, I did 1 coat of glossifier.

Macombtwp, it was your post on the Morgue that I first saw the Anthracite color. They look great and I think will match up pretty well with my stripes.

I think it looks great on the verts - it compliments the black tops really well.

These wheels look awesome in black. I powder coated mine and added a little red to offset it. A complete transformation.

I've seen powdercoated wheels - they look good and they have a smooth finish -- yours look good Moezee.

Yeah the paint is half wet sanded and some polished parts some not done yet. It a work in progress. I did the plastic dip to make sure i liked the color before i get them powder coated.

Gotcha. Just about every car I own is always "a work in progress". Even when there's absolutely nothing wrong with it in the first place.

Nope, it peels off rubber easily...unless its really old and cracking rubber (which I hope is not the case). You don't even need to take the wheel off the car. Just take a couple plastic bags and cover your rotors and calipers..and mask off around the wheel well to prevent over spray. Either way this stuff comes off if you want it to. I put some on my DD last march and it's still holding strong.

Sounds like taking the wheel off would be faster than masking everything. I think I will try the anthracite on my Slate Gray car

I've done it both ways and this way was definitely faster.

I did my truck wheels in anthracite, it turned out great. I didn't do a gloss coat though. And that plastidip works a ton better if you soak the cans in hot water prior to application.

Really now? I'll have to remember that tip!

Here's my car, it was okay for a while. I ended up taking it off. I tried it after seeing macombs car.
