    Door sill cover upgrade!

My '09 ACR came with a set of the brushed aluminum "Viper" door sills, courtesy of a previous owner. They were good looking, but didn't really match the car.

A friend got me a set of prototype anodized sill plates that are laser etched: now we're talking! Awesome quality.

You might notice that the old cover is still there, under the new one; it had been glued on, apparently, and did not budge once the screws were removed. I was exerting significant force trying to pry it off, and finally gave up... worried I'd bust something. So, technically, I've committed the unforgiveable crime of adding non-functional weight to my ACR.

I'd doubt that they were glued down...they came with very strong double sided tape to secure them along with the three screws.

You might as well as put kettle bells in the back. I'm sorry but we're gonna have to confiscate your ACR for the crime of adding non functional weight. Unless you can prove that it aids in downforce with the little bit of air that enters into the cabin. How do you plead?
    : )

Seriously it is very good looking though! It matches your car quite well. We're the brushed might be a better call for some other cars, this is the way to go on yours, is someone making these?

Mine were glued down on my 08. Had "door sill guards" installed at the dealership by the previous owner. Found my post at the "other site."

Some moron literally GLUED the side sills to the carbon tub of the car with industrial adhesive. A hammer, a kitchen knife with a 90 degree bend, and a 15" thin bladed butchers knife finally got it loose. Did some bending to the side sill surface too. Guess the sill protectors will not be going back on.

Jesus...guess they must not have had faith in the double sided tape.

Found a pic of the door plate sills I ordered that had shipping damage...you can see approximately where the tape is on them:

You can't really tell from that pic, but the short outer lip on them also has double sided tape, so most of the tape is on the outboard edge, with a little in the middle.
