Here's my scrappy track GTS. It started life as a SCCA road race car, and I'm carrying on the tradition. Currently I'm tuning it for duty in CAM-S class autocross with the plan to campaign the car in time trial and Optima ultimate street car racing in the future. It's a fairly simple build. No windows, AC, blower motor, carpet, sidepipes with no cats, and a lightweight hood for about 300 lbs of weight reduction. The car is right around 3100 lbs wet. Moton single adjustable coilovers, Stoptech big brakes, and 18x12 square Forgelines with 335 BFG Rivals. At the moment I'm building a set of BCForged 18x11.5 wheels and plan to run the car using the current crop of 315 super sticky 200tw autocross tires. The car also has fixed mount Sparco seats with 5 point harnesses, and a diff cooler for the Quaife diff.
So it's an aftermarket hood then, right? Mind sharing information? I have not seen them before.
I can’t believe you’d set the hood on the ground, I would have a cow about the paint...
It's an Autoform hood, check it out here: http://www.autoformgroup.com/
Haha, yes it's definitely unorthodox for how pristine most Vipers are. This car was built from new in 1997 to be a road race car. The body and chassis have been modified and cut in such a way where it will never be a fully original Viper again. Because of its racing history, there are lots of dings, scrapes, and rock chips, so laying the hood on the ground is not a big deal.
If it ever gets a fresh respray I'll definitely create a way to keep the hood from getting dinged during tech inspection.
finished with the new paint/stripes and wheel polish IMG_20201017_174105158.jpgIMG_20201017_173458858.jpgIMG_20201017_174039289.jpgIMG_20201017_173453661.jpgIMG_20201017_173544798.jpg
