That is the 3G Cellular Antenna for the Uconnect System and Radio Headunit, and the escutcheon around the antenna is removable, but the lid on the antenna itself is not. There is just a little matrix antenna within.

Thank you for the response. I am thinking of mounting a 3M adhesive mount to the box to mount my radar detector. The box seems to be mounted pretty solid and the detector does not weigh much. I attached a pic of the mount.

Any thoughts?

I was thinking of a similar idea, so I think it's a good idea, lol. I'll be playing with mine as soon as I'm done polishing and sealing the outside of the car, I got no quality time with her this past weekend, something about a mother's day weekend or some nonsense.
