WTF….isn't there anything straightforward anymore?!

The box has M0-041.
I bought five from the Wizard.
If you change the oil yourself. Fill the filter with new oil and put a fine coating on the gasket. Do not let any of the fill oil get on the outside of the gasket because that will leak. until
What is odd is that if the gasket were seeping, you would see a film from the top. The bit I see is in the groove of the lip - almost like it's pushing up through the filter itself. I'll have to see if I can get a picture.
As an update, I really can't get my Iphone down in there to get a good pic. After about another 200 miles, there is still a little seepage there. I don't have access to a lift anymore or floor jacks to get under the car, so I guess I'll just have to monitor it. Annoys me no end however. Two filters since 2 weeks ago, and the same thing. First world problems, I know.....
my filter leaked on my brand new 2014 GTS dealer replaced it all is good now
Ironically, your story is close to what happened to me last week....made an appointment...took time off work...went to appointment...no filter...idiots
To make matters worse you couldn't drive your Viper into the service / receiving area without bottoming out on the steep down ramp and abrupt grade change right at a metal drainage grate. I drove as slow as I could, but it scraped so hard I heard everyone in the shop cringe. I told everyone there that they are and SRT dealer and need to make some changes as a Viper can't even drive into the service dept. Over a week has went by and they still don't have a filter... unreal.
Luckily (or not) what you hear scraping are the air deflectors.....lucky they are there. With our roads here in PA, I scraped them here and there, especially on the repaired patched roads...yesterday I was on a downgrade, and too late I saw the grade change, and couldn't slow enough in time.
However, I understand your frustration. When your dealer is able to do it, please double check their work (which we shouldn't have to do).
Just checked the filter on my Gen 4 today, and the top of it was dry.
Steve M, I bought 2 hockey pucks today.. thanks buddy, lol !!
Sad commentary really on your local Dodge dealership experience and why no one trusts them.
If they can't change the oil right....how on earth would they handles something more involved where a mistake is not so apparent.
Instructions are on the side of Mopar filters, at least on the Gen IV. I have not ever had issue with mine. Lube the gasket, wipe the mating area clean, turn on slowly till the two touch, one more full turn by hand. Done and done....
