    TA Front Splitter install options

Anybody else out there just use 3M window weld with the factory screws instead of the rivet option? Trying to avoid drilling the bumper/taking bumper off.

Anything I am not thinking of as to why this is not a good option, besides coming detached easier if hitting a high curb etc. (which may actually cause less damage to car/splitter than if attached by rivets)

I have wondered the same thing. Are you using the OEM splitters?

It takes less than 30 min and some hand tools to remove the bumper cover. Do it the right way.

Outnumbered these are exact copies made Bolt-on-mods.com. My OEM set and car were the mules. They fit perfectly....

They are stuck on there good and I am keeping it this way. Plenty of surface area to glue and the rivet holes make it grip even harder. I always part out when I sell cars and this way will not leave drill holes. IMO If the window weld is good enough for the rear spoiler it should be good enough for the front. Front has 4 screws holding it as well. I'd argue that the rear spoiler will fly away before the fronts will. Rear is glue only

It took less then 15 minutes total to install this way.

With Tony, do it the right way the first time.

Not what i asked... if we all did things the way dodge intended we'd all have stock cars.

If anyone can tell me why this might be a bad idea, then I'd appreciate your thoughts.

What about the adhesive residue that will remain after you remove the splitters? I would worry about the paint pulling off.

Yeah good thought. You have to be careful removing, but keep in mind the rear spoiler is attached with the same stuff from the factory. Adhesive remover removes remnants. There is a safe way to remove...I imagine it involves dental floss........

Braided fishing line works better than dental floss.

I have the perception that trying to remove the splitters held in place by adhesive is a destructive process. Dental floss ain't gonna do it. Probably involve some kind of solvent/chemical to break the adhesive bond. I have a vision of paint being damaged in the process of removal. I haven't seen anyone post, yet, their experience in removing the rear splitter so we don't know how difficult its going to be. HOWEVER, does this really matter? These parts, to me, are a permanent option and I can't imagine why I'd want to remove them once installed. But that's me. I say forget about it and just enjoy it.

Just thinking about parting it out later. I'm not going to include $6k in carbon fiber when I sell. More times than not people don't want the upgrades so I part out when I sell my cars. 110% chance paint and body will be damaged if I install via SRT's directions (drill holes).

I do not know what is under the front end between these new splitters, but it seems to be the perfect elevation across the two to design and attach a larger traditional duckbill type splitter (hopefully one that is easily removable for street use).

Something that extends back like the Gen 4 ACR splitter was what I was envisioning. From some of the data I've researched about duckbill splitters, there is not a lot of physical "down pressure" on top it as I first assumed.

Any thoughts to the feasibility of this for the Gen 5 guys?

I think it could certainly be done. The Gen 5 ACR concept has a splitter that resembles your idea.

Ok... I thought of a reason this may not work well over time. TA spoiler (factory installed with glue) is actually getting forced against the car., TA Splitters the air is attempting to "rip" the splitter from the car. I am wondering how well window weld will hold up to this kind use.

That's what I was thinking at first too, but if the duckbill part of the splitter is attached to the rest of the structure that goes under the front of the car which is bolted to the frame rails with extra support of cables inside the bumper, I'd think you'd be good up to about 165 mph (pretty much the top speed on 95% of the USA tracks a Viper could achieve on the straightaway).

Designing it similar to the Gen 4 ACR track extension is my idea, but with about double the surface area and easily removable.

Hi, I just joined. I bought a 2016 viper GT and purchased a spoiler kit. The kit will come in next week. I'm curious as to why you need to remove the front cover. If your using rivets to hold it on why can't you just drill holes into the cover and install the rivets with a pop rivet gun.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Can't be done without drilling large holes in your splitter. It will make sense once you see the piece in person. Front bumper can be removed in 15 minutes and very straight forward.

hi, how do I get the SRT directions for installing the front splitters?

    Thanks

Thanks, I just got the kit in. I understand now.
