    GEN 1/2 Viper Quaife Questions?

So I am inches away from pulling the trigger on a brand new Quaife diff unit for my 96 RT/10 but have some questions. Reading on the Internet, I am a little confused.

Seems there is a difference and issue depending on if your car has GEN 1 Dana rear or GEN 2 Super Dana rear.

GEN 1 could have a "ladder bar" issue? You can use the GEN 2 Quaife in a GEN 1 but not a GEN 1 Quaife in a GEN 2?

What rear does the 96 RT/10 have as it is that GEN 1.5 thing?

Quaife seems to have two different part numbers:

    QDF9SB for U-Joint types
    QDF9SC for CV types

I realize the half shafts will need to be reworked, some housing grinding, etc. but I believe the price of the Quaife diff I am looking at is just too good to pass up at basically $1k? Just need some advice and a sounding board. Don't need the diff as nothing wrong with mine but when I do eventually go to 3.55s out back, will just upgrade it all and add a drain plug and forget about it, enjoy life.

Any advice and experience you guys can provide? BTW, I am convinced on the Quaife so not interested in any other brand diff. Thanks!

I believe the Dana with 3/8" carrier bolts was used 1992-1999, Then the Super Dana 44 was used 2000-2002. The 1996 does not have a ladder bar setup. All of the 1992-2002 used the U-joint type connections.

I believe the 96 RT shared all the suspension and driveline of the Gen 2 GTS & RT, with the exception of the engine, which was a Gen 1 carryover, but utilized the JTEC engine controller. I also recall that the diff was a Super 44 on all Gen 2s.

Thanks guys, but now I am still confused. Is my 96RT a u-joint set up diff? Guess trying to figure out if the QDF9SB is the direction I should be going?

Yes it is. Have you never looked under your car?
