Just did Xpel Ultimate clear bra on the Viper

Feels good to have the new paint protected. My installer said that the Gen 5 hood is by far the hardest wrap of any car he does, and he does everything from priceless 1960s Ferraris to P1 Mclarens and LaFerraris. Obviously the sheer size and matching the seems is the challenge. I love the Xpel Ultimate which I had on my 997 TT, becuase it self heals when exposed to heat! It's pretty amazing stuff. Here are a few pics of the install.

You did the front fascia and the hood? What does it cost if you don't mind me asking?

  3. #3
Firstly, I live in the Northeast which adds a premium to LIFE! Secondly he's a friend and gave me a special price that he's asked me not to share. The Expel Ultimate is expensive stuff so there aren't huge deals out there. Sorry for the vague answer.

Don't suppose you could give us the avg. non friend price?

I got a local 3M shop to quote me and it was essentially for any area to do, 2x the cost of the wrap. So if the xPel for the front is $300 they essentially priced it at $600 to do. I don't have it with me but my total quote was like $1300 and was front, bumper, rockers, and rear rocker/quarter pieces. But I haven't shopped it yet.

It's the labor you're paying for really.

I just got mine back yesterday too. I went with a little better of a product, I got Suntek, but I imagine prices are pretty darn similar. Life has a premium up here too, but I paid 1800$CAD. I had the front bumper, 30" hood piece, full rockers, headlights, mirrors, and rear impact area all done. Plus that included the window tint. In the future I will just get the entire car done with Suntek.

3M is one of the worst ones on the market now. Xpel is better, but nothing can compare to the clearness of Suntek. Plus it has a 5 year warranty against yellowing and other defects. Not sure about Xpels warranty? But warranty aside, I just wanted the clearest film I could get to ensure it was as invisible as possible.

I'm booked in on the 27 to get front bumper, full hood, mirrors, rockers , and rear impact area with xpel ultimate. 2200$ CAD

Reason I ask is I have never heard of Expel. Heard of Suntek and 3M. Getting my front fascia repainted this year and trying to decide on a brand.

I asked my local guy about doing mine, and he also said that this is one the hardest to do - and this guy specializes in VERY high end cars (he has a LaFerrari in the shop right now).

    It's pricey, so I'm debating....

Got mine done up North too when I got the car back in Aug 2013. Expel Ultimate was chosen as it does not yellow on a white car (as opposed to 3M, I was told).
From a kit specially made for the GTS they did the front bumper, hood up to the scoop, headlights, mirrors, full rocker panels and back of rear wheels.
Cost was $1350 Cdn, but the installer said he would ask $400 more to do another Viper.
After 1 1/2 year, it's still as clear and invisible as day one. Cheap price to pay for peace of mind on an expensive toy !

That's close to what I paid in the NY area

Half hood and all the other bits is around $1400. I figured my pretty GTS hood needed full wrap.

I have my whole car done in expel, no more swirl marks to worry about

I moved from 3M to expel awhile back. Every car you see below except the Viper has X pel. Don't drive the Viper.

To me, it is a waste of time not to do the entire hood. It recently saved me on the Aventator which had what looked like a painted damaged scrap on the left from bumper. But simply peeled off piece and replaced it. It did its job.

Can you give me the name of the place that you know of? Looking to get mine done soon and have started shopping around.

I had my 1st Viper done but the place didn't do that great of a job and had huge adhesive streaks under the film so I ended up getting a refund and peeling it off myself.

Nick Oakes (Oakes Detailing) right in West Chester about a mile from me. He takes care of pretty much every high end car you have seen at our C&C.

We had Xpel in San Antonio do our 2010 ACR with the ultimate. And they covered everything on the ACR. It coast $4800 and had a lifetime warranty. They had the car for two weeks as they had to make pieces that didn't exist and also get the driver stripe correct so no seem could be easily seen.

I've used Avery Nano film on my cars in the past and its amazing. im getting my TA done in a few weeks and thinking of going expel this time with all the great reviews out there.. average cost for those asking in the past for me (in the north east) for 3/4 car was about 2-2.5k and for full car about 3-3.5k depending on what car it is

*for guys in the NY, long island area there is a great shop in oyster bay that does clear film.. done over 5 cars with them always spot on.
