I have owned gen 3 & gen 4 Viper products and the cars have been an absolute JOY to maintain and own. I've never had an issues with anything outside of the normal wear tear, and from riding around in a gen 5 they feel like an absolute lexus compared the previous generations. If a gen 5 is too harsh for you, then honestly, a Viper isn't the right car for you, period. No harm, no foul, move along.

OP I feel for you, and hope your issues get resolved. Vehicles will have problems, the Viper is hand built by human beings, who unfortunately have their bad days. Things slip through the cracks, it happens. It is then on the corporation as a whole to make it right (and I think its this area the Viper suffers the most, leaving out our 3 fav dealership choices).

People want Mclaren performance, Toyota reliability, Porsche refinement, and Lexus isolation for a car that costs 85k. Get f'ing real. Trade-offs, they exist in life.

Sorry, I don't buy this argument at all. Same is made on the C7Z forum. I have high standards for a car that starts out at $85,000 - everyone should. Lacking those standards is what allows for QC issues to become larger problems.

Look at Ferrari, people don't speak up against their terrible paint issues because 1) They wait a year+ for the car and 2) don't want to "get blackballed by Ferrari." If groups of people started rejecting their cars due to garbage paint issues, Ferrari would change their tune.

I expect better quality out of the Viper than I do a Dodge Dart, and everyone should. Not expecting better leads to a subpar product.

His airbox not being bolted to the car, oh it is just a $85,000 car so don't expect too much. Malarky.

I got my wife to ride shotgun yesterday and she thinks it is coming from the plastic/rubber window guide at the front of the door. Weird noise, not like wind noise, more like a frequency vibration. Her theory is to leave it in the sun and see if the material softens or forms to the window. I don't think that will work, but I am going to try it prior to tearing it apart.

You're twisting what I said, of course one is to expect properly fastened components on a 85k car. I was talking to the complaints regarding road/wind noise, harsh ride, and other bs the dash-strokers have been moaning about. Those complaints have nothing to do with "quality", simply a byproduct of design intent. If you want a race-car for the street be prepared to drive a race-car for the street. Too many posers out there now-days want to give the illusion of their driving prowess by driving something outside of what would be suited to their actual driving habits. Then they get on the boards and complain about the "short-comings" when they're not using the product for its intended purpose. Do you notice how the guys on the boards who regularly track their cars never complain about anything? It's because the cars' performance on the track overshadows any complaints they may have regarding its creature comforts. Don't buy an Ariel Atom and complain about wind shear.

Of course the airbox issue is an absurd oversight (or negligence) on someones part, however, as I stated, things happen. Ferrari's catch on fire, McLaren's doors refuse to function, BMWs eat high pressure fuel pumps like its their day job, on and on. These are all products who have supply chain and QC issues at price points that far exceed the Vipers. That's not an excuse for the Viper team, just pointing out that you will find something to complain about at any price point.

To that point I agree. I think people need to know what they are buying. The Viper has always been a raw close-to-race-car-as-you-can-get street car.

There are some gives you must accept with that.

Well said and spot on. It's a dressed up race car and behaves as such. Wind noise....LMAOOOOO.
Go drive a Gen 1,2,3 or 4 if you want to hear squeaks and rattles. And they were equally expensive if not more so in their time in equivalent dollars.

    Your statement is perfectly put:
"Too many posers out there now-days want to give the illusion of their driving prowess by driving something outside of what would be suited to their actual driving habits"

I agree with this statement 100%. I really liked my car when I got it, was actually surprised the road noise from the tires was less than my Gallardo. And maybe I'm the lucky one, but I have zero squeaks, rattles, and vibrations inside, even driving on the third world moonscapes Canada calls highways...... The SRT ride is taught, but I'm not 100% sure I'd even call it stiff. So much so, that the dual mode shocks are the non issue I hoped they would be. Got lucky on that too I guess.

But then I took it on the road course, and now I f*@king love this car! It just rails. I didn't drive it before the TA alignment was done, they did it at the dealer, but my God does it stick. It just grips and grips. The power is laughable, and even full on, the stability system lets you have fun. I can't think of anywhere the Lamborghini beats this car, except for exhaust note, and Starbucks posing!

I've owned older Vipers, so I went into this one with the quality bar set nice and low, and I was blown away. She's no Bentley, but if I wanted a highway tourer, I'd buy one.

As a side note, I saw Ralph on Jay Leno's Garage, and he talked about the new Viper being capable of being considered as a GT car. I think I laughed out loud by myself at home. You can drive it every day if you want. Across country? Sure. But come on, it's not a highway cruiser, and to be honest, if it was, I wouldn't have bought it.
