    GEN 1 shifter

Does anyone know of a video that shows how to remove stock shifter handle and replacing it with an aftermarket?

Should be pretty simple. Remove the bezel that surrounds the radio/shiter. If its like the GEN IIs it should just unsnap. Theres 6 or 8 points of contact i believe. One behind the shifter, one next to the foglight switches, two at the top of the climate controls, then therss either one or two down both sides of the bezel. Once you have it free lift it up enough to expose the the threaded stud the shifter is attached to ive had to use two wrenches to break mine free. If its never been done before it may be a little tough the first time. Theres a stopper nut at the bottom of the shifter. Putons wrench on the shifter and the other on the stopper nut.

Are you talking about the whole shifter or just the knob? If it is just the knob, pull down the leather boot covering the bottom of the shifter handle. You will see a nut against the shifter knob, loosen it and the shifter should un-screw off.

Not sure if it is the same on a gen 2 but here is a video of a gen 2 removal.
