    Getting a little better...did 4 passes at the local drag strip tonight. Ran 2 7.77s, a 7.85, and a 7.55:

That was on an 11.08@130.89 pass.

Note the altitude discrepancy with the run above (879 ft vs. 782 ft). The actual track elevation is 813 feet, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed in the last 2 weeks. It's also interesting to see how many of my runs get flagged as invalid (especially 0-60 runs) at this track. I'm not sure how it is determining altitude, but it definitely ain't right.

I love those 60-130mph numbers. Way more interesting than the usual 0-60 and top speed....

    Just made some calculation:

    355-30-19 tires
    6,600 rpm
    4.10 gears

    Starts 3,900rpm @ 60mph in 3rd gear
Rev limiter would hit @ 131mph in 4th gear
So single shift, almost perfect use of the powerband

    Very tempting ;-)

Excited to see cooler weather prevail soon. This was back in March.

My dragy has been laying around since I sold my F-Type R back in April. It was a beautiful day and the first day that I've been almost back to normal after being sick as a dog for 9 days so thought I'd go get some 60-130 runs in. It was challenging to get some clean runs in during the middle of the day but I got a few.

My tranny has lived a spirited life. It loves grinding into reverse and grinds on 2-3 if shifted too quickly. Definitely struggled with my 2-3 shifts. I'll replace the fluid and see if it helps along with some more practice. I'd love to get into the 7s. 2014 SRT Viper stock. Best of the day was 8.77 and we only got one video that was a 9.00.

I think it has 7.3s or 7.2s in close to 500 DA or lower.
I went to install the ARH headers last weekend and was pretty upset with the fitment and had to put all the old stuff back on.

Was really wanting to see what it would do with headers.

That sucks to hear. I'd be pretty pissed knowing how much Viper headers cost, and how much effort it takes to install them.

The one thing I really like about these Dragy results is being able to compare so you can see trends. Looking at your latest pull vs. my best to date shows the effect of the transmission gearing differences between the Gen 4 and the Gen 5 with both having 3.55s out back.

I knew the shift points would be different, but I didn't know how different until I really looked at them side by side.

Yep. no reason a stock trans can't handle nearly a stock car hahha.
Thing has 13,000 on it now and shifts like butter. I'm glad i got a 2017. Engine doesn't burn any oil it seems and my catch cans barely get anything at all.

Finally got some data on the new setup!

Car makes 860WHP / 740WTQ, Procharger F1X on stock ECU still!

60-130 5.9 Seconds on my first "dedicated" 60-130 run (on a heavy 20" rear wheel too!)

    Untitled by Toad, on Flickr

    100-150 5.3 seconds

    Untitled by Toad, on Flickr

She did a best of 169.2MPH in the half mile according to Dragy that run, best print out slip said 168.8MPH. I think with a shorter .8 5th gear, we'd be in the mid to upper 170s with the current setup! Car feels incredible on this setup, never skipped a beat and was dead consistent 167-169 every pass!

What kind of times did you run 60-130 in the F-Type?

High 9's. Just as fast as the viper up to 90ish. I had the RWD drive F-Type R.

  16. #91
Did you test the difference between using the paddles and letting the transmission do the shifts? I picked up an F-Type R earlier this year but I have barely driven (ongoing construction at my house).

I did not test the difference between them and I left it in auto 99% of the time. I thought the auto was that good, but it was the only sports car I've had that was auto so I have no basis for comparison.

Had a new personal best the other night:

That was on a 10.94 @ 131 pass. Dragy DA was pretty much spot on compared to my Kestrel weather meter.

I know its invalid, but there are no flat roads near me lol. 4.5 and did a 4.3 the day before same road. Stock motor, stock trans, stock clutch, 12psi, 76mm turbo, 980hp, 17 degree timing, 65 degree intake temps, 55 degree out side temp, pump gas, lift shifting, 3rd to 4th gear pull, traction control kicking in 6 times during pull, two stepping/anit lag at 3k 9psi 57mph in 3rd gear. Home built lets gooooooooo.

Interesting! Since I can't shift for shit, I'll have to try a 3rd/4th pull rather than 2-3-4 pull to see if that improves my time. Here's mine for comparisons' sake.

Take the "invalid" marking with a grain of salt.

I've only ever done 60-130 runs at the drag strip, which is as flat as you can get. 35% of my runs have been marked as invalid due to slope <-1%.

The Dragy sucks at altitude estimation, and it usually starts with how it initializes. Every time I've turned it on, I've probably been within 20 feet laterally, yet it has said that the altitude is anywhere from 729-938 feet (actual track elevation is 813 feet according to US Geological Survey database).

The density altitude is usually within 100 feet of actual (according to my weather meter), but has been off as much as 385 feet at times. Not too bad all considering.
