What does a new Gen V hood cost?

Being that a Gen II hood went for somewhere in the $15k range, I would think that an all carbon fiber hood would be quite a bit more. I'm still surprised by how cheap my auto insurance policy is on my Gen V even with all the carbon fiber being utilized.

My insurance premium on my 2013 is double that of my Gen 3. Won't be surprised if it goes up more - my Dart went up, and my agent said that as more data came in on repair costs, the insurance companies raised premiums. I suspect that the same may happen with our Gen 5s, especially as you say, that hood alone is costly.

I had a small accident in my gen II (back in the day!) and was told the hood was 17k. I was recently told my gen 5 hood is 12k.

The hood is not 100% carbon fiber. Everything underneath the heat shield is ABS plastic.

Hood, roof, and decid are carbon. Just not the fancy weave carbon like on the bottom of the hood and trunklid.

Gen 2 MSRP OE Hood prices have plunged to a new low this year: MSRP only $3570! I'm SURE your insurance rate went down?!?

Gen 5 OE Hoods MSRP of $10750 and 10760.

    WALL ART:
How about a pristine Gen 3 hood for $300?

I can't comment on the other parts but I saw the underside of a hood with the heat shield off and it most definitely was not CF. My paint guy showed me the one he had to replace on a black V about 6 months ago due to cracks in the paint around the hood vents.

We had this observation about the non fancy underside 1.5 years ago, the consensus was that it's not the fancy CF everyone has been trained to look for but its still CF. Consider how much heavier it would be if it was plastic or anything other than CF.

The factory hood is a mixture of carbon and Abs. The hood from Agency Power is the only 100% carbon hood. I have one in the crate at my shop. Haven't miunted it yet but the weave looks great. Seems to be a quality piece. I have it weighed at 44#.

The hood, roof, and trunk are all carbon fiber.

Carbon fiber isn't always the pretty stuff you see that is exposed.

Yep it isn't about the exposed weave only
