Car being sold after manufacturers buyback.

Inquiring about a 13 gts for sale and dealer disclosed that its a buy back with repairs done.Dont know the repairs yet.Never dealt with this.Is that something akin to a "wrecked" car on the title now .I imagine it follows the car and makes resale difficult.Has anybody had experience with this before.

It is a branded title (lemon law, buyback) and carfax, autocheck, etc. will always reflect that.

There are a few threads on this subject if you take the time to look, your gain good knowledge.

I'd have to be a heck of a deal for me to take a buyback. Personally, I wouldn't be for it.

I'd want to know the nature of what the buyback was, what the fixes were, etc.

I'd buy one if ALL of the following applied:

    1) all issues were completely resolved and you cannot see any issues resulting from the fixes
    2) it has every option and color exactly as you wanted. Because...
    3) you're going to be keeping the car for a very very long time. Plan on owning it for 10 years at least
    4) and finally it better be a financially smokin deal

I'd agree with this...it could be a way to get a smokin deal and get into a Gen 5.

Whoever ends up with my car when I turn it in for my TA replacement under lemon law will end up with a solid car. The mechanical work has been successful, and despite the cosmetic damage caused by the dealership that did the work, it'd be a good car to own.

I think that it hurts value due to perception more than anything, even if the car was repaired, and you can confirm that. I would worry about it just because I read posts from people that say they took a car in, the dealer said they fixed it, and the problem shows up again. If they couldn't fix it for the original owner, how does one have confidence that they fixed it for resale?

Here is an article by a lawyer that represents owners in lemon law cases.
