Exhaust Port Question

I guess I'll call them that, they're not exhaust tips since those I consider on the actual pipes...

Anyway, are they solid hunks of aluminum or just coated? One of mine is scratched up on the inside, it looks like when the sill was reinstalled from my headers something slipped and its scratched up. If they're solid aluminum like I hope I'll just sand it and polish it. But if it's plated then I'm stuck. Does anyone know?

They appear to be aluminum with a high temp coating.
