    First drive of the year

After a long cold winter I took the GTS out for a short drive yesterday 4c / 40f cold but the roads were dry. Over the winter months I did several little projects ( Woodhouse mounts, braided SS brake lines, lowered the drivers seat, lower spring caps and cleaned and lubed just about everything.
One mod I did is the one I want to share with GTS owners. My car is equipped with Corsa exhaust and 3:07 gears. The car sounds awesome but always had a bit of a drone. I had also decided to do the mounts as well this winter since the general feel of the motor and shifting quality was not as firm as my Woodhouse mount equipped RT. I was thinking this may make it worse. The mounts were both split so changing them was necessary.
I was thinking that since the car is fiberglass the whole structure acts like a drum. So I removed the interior carpet and lined the entire floor and wheel wells with DynaMat.
Car now feels solid. No drone. Less road noise. Exhaust sound is clear and since I also did the speaker boxes in the back the Stereo sounds better.
Ok it probably added 10lbs to the weight of the car but it was worth it.
Now to bring it to Raceway to install the 3:55's.

YOU DIDN'T??? Oh how I wish I had the balls to take mine out (they're in my wife's purse and she wasn't home at the time).
Thursday is supposed to be around 12 down here.

Did you dynamat the rear trunk/hatch area or the whole cabin? If just doing the trunk area makes a huge difference I'd be interested in doing it.

Did the rear hatch/trunk area. Also did the raised part over the differential and part way down the back of the seat area.
Took the seats out but decided it was too much work to remove all the carpet. Figured the greater good would be in the back.
The difference was worth the effort IMO.

I think I'll do the same - Did you use Dynamat Xtreme or Dynamat Superlite or something else? Thanks

Wonder if this would help the Gen III's too? The vibration from my exhaust is just destroying my ears...

Only 10 LBS? When I used to build kit cars(primarily '55-'57 T-birds), I regularly used 40-50 LBS of the stuff(but they sure didn't sound like fiberglass cars anymore ).

I also used Damplifier Pro. We found it works better than Dynamat Extreme, and is cheaper to boot.

I bought the bulk pack through Summit Racing. They had the best price.
    9 sheets 32"x 18". I used 7.5 sheets. Probably more than 10 lbs.
But I have 450 lb.ft. torque lots to spare
