    3M tape on roll bar

    Bonjour guys,
Still on my detailing and inspecting on my 97 RT/10 and found something else...
Was it factory to have a 3M tale on the roll bar...(see attached photo). My Viper was repainted and not well cared for.Seems like the guys before me glued the weatherstrip of the hard top with instant glue and put the top on before it dried. Now the 3M tape looks awful and I would like to remove it. I would like to know if it was factory installed, if not, I will remove it and not re-intalled one.

    Thanks again

    Ben

There is clear tape on the sport bars from the factory but it doesnt look like that. The tape itself is actually body colored.

    Thanks,
I know my viper has been re-painted and that the tape is clear...well,where it's not damage.
I will remove it and put a new one...just not sure how to do a great job installing that.

When I had the stripes painted on mine it looked just like your pic...they removed the clear tape and replaced it after painting.
You definitely need it to keep the removable top from scratching your paint.

Go slow and be as gentile as you can pulling it off. I've had vinyl pull the paint off of repainted cars before. Factory paint is generally OK, but repaints can sometimes have adhesion problems.
