Door Handles Recalled. Some 13/14 Unintended Door Opening at speeds up to 15mph

Hello - Chrysler has issued a recall for some 13/14 Dodge Viper models due to moisture causing the switch to activate and the door to prop open at speeds up to 15 mph. Go get your handles replaced if your doors freak out when its wet outside.

I purchased my 2014 GTS in November and after getting it detailed I noticed the passenger door was often open when I'd go to back out of my garage. At first I thought I was losing my touch. Then it happened again...and again...and again. Finally at one point it drained the battery so off to the dealer it went. They had it for four days before they could "duplicate" the event and that happened while three of the service staff were standing around the car arguing about who was going to call me to tell me they couldn't duplicate it ....and then the door opened. (I was confused why there was so much deliberation. The outside door handle did not work, either, which was enough of a failure in my opinion to replace the switch.) A couple of days of talking with HQ and I was informed that the incident was going to be the subject of a Technical Service Bulletin, which is what I assume Mark is referencing. For the record, it never happened while the car was moving at any speed. Anyway, new switch, new battery, and now with 6,000 miles and seven track days on the car, all seems to be well. Although I am getting a very odd CEL and limp-home mode when I take Turn 1 and 2 at Big Willow. It it immediately correctable after I turn off the car and restart after ten seconds. I'm thinking it has something to do with running all the computers off. Maybe Mark knows something about that.

Any mods at all with your car, you can email me if you would rather.

Zero mods. And I intend to keep it that way.

Good to know, thanks. I still have to have the airbag recall done at some point.

Glad they are taking care of this. The handful of issues reported on the forums tells you the issue had to be greater that what it seemed with those not online.

It happened to me a few of times too, but on drivers door, noticed it the next day when I went in the garage. I can't for certain say it wasn't my fault though, as I have a habit of shutting doors lightly... Don't remember if it was on my '13 or '14 (I'm leaning towards '13 only because I had it longer), and both were stock, no mods...
