Wheel gap and tucked in wheels are killing me!

When I got the Viper, I had promised myself I wouldn't frankenstein it like I did with my previous car. But man is the wheel gap killing me!

I love it when a car sits with minimal wheel gap and flush wheels. Am I alone on this? I just don't want to mess with the two mode suspension and have to worry about alignments and uneven tire wear.

Pick up the lowering caps from viper exchange...everyone who has purchased them seems to really like them and they say the suspension is unchanged if even not improved a little...

Buy a set of the ViperExchange lowering caps. Or, buy some aftermarket wheels. We usually run a slightly taller front tire (like Gen 3/4) up front and it closes the gap perfectly. The front tire on the Gen 5 is very short, at 25" tall.

The wheels are tucked in up front to improve top speed per Ralph, but if that's not a concern then you can do the ViperExchange lowering caps and add spacers.

Definitely do it! To me the Viper goes from a 6 to a 10 with the correct set up. The ass end sits too high and it loses that exotic appeal on the road with stock height. Lower it down some and get the wheels right, then it looks proper next to the Italians.

I would try the lowering caps first and see it that does it for you. If not then the spacers can certainly move the wheels flush.

What thickness spacers/et lugs are yall using?

  9. #9
Won't spacers add stress/wear to the wheel bearings?

  10. #10
Yes slightly; but we're talking about 3/8" or less.

If you want to get it lowered an 1" or more, go with the Eibach springs. The believe same part number fits all cars from 1996-2015.

Idunno..... compared to some guys who slam all their rides, my Lamborghini looks like a 4x4. My eye isn't drawn to wheel gaps as much as body lines though. So I'm ok in my Italian offroader.

Couldn't you just pull off the spacers for track days?

I think those lowering caps look just right on the Gen V from what I have seen. Go too low and driving around town can be a bitch depending on where you live. But when I have seen before and after pocs on the caps, I think it looks pretty damn good. Plus the. You don't mess with spring rates or geometry.

Funny that everyone has concerns and knocks the spacers - as they are used on the comp coupe. I had 1" spacers on my Street Serpent Widebody Viper and that thing handled amazingly well! My son ran it in a couple of autocross events and carved up the course and the competition.

Comp Coupes have extended ARP studs though.

That does look gorgeous! Any front 3/4 pics?

Do the Vipers come with adjustable camber arms?

With my OCD, i would probably opt for springs and spacers. I dont like having wheel setups tucked in..
How much lower do the springs go? They look a bit lower than the lowering caps.
