The 1st time I needed to use the horn I hit it and nothing happened, then I hit it harder and nothing again. It takes a fucking Mike Tyson knockout punch to get this thing to work, is that normal?

I have to press my horn at the 12 o'clock position to make it work! (2013 GTS)
I have found that the newer the car is these days the harder the horn is to push. You would think the opposite, but I guess it could get annoying if it was...
Was for me, feels like the mechanism is hidden behind the airbag and you have to push through both.
I was told that it has to do with the airbag packaging in the wheel. But that always seemed a bit lame to me.

So I guess it's normal, I'll just yell out the window.

ANOTHER GREAT QUOTE![]()
It could be the issue associated with the horn recall. I had my whole steering wheel replaced to correct it.
I have the same complaint. You have to hammer the horn to make it work.
Just wait until it starts singing at 3:00 a.m.
Same here on my 15 GT. It requires I would say at least 30psi of pressure to make it work. I would say that's a major safety issue. There must be a way to take some tension out of the spring mechanism.
I thought it was just my car. Drag to find this out when you really need it.
Same here. It's very unreliable when you need it.
Yep you gotta really hammer it to beep
I kinda like the fact that the horn is hard to actuate. It's saved me from looking like an a@@hole on a few occasions.![]()
You do really need the horn, only way to get those Z06 owners to give a point by when they're holding you up on track days.
There is a horn TSB. My car goes in today for R28-29, my issue in it being so late due to my travels, but they also ordered the horn fix, my horn went off twice in the garage over the past year, once I thought was a fluke since I was working on the cars etc, the other time was 3am and the garage is under the bedroom, me and 9mm of fun were busting thru the door to find only the car teasing me. The horn TSB fixes it, so sayeth SRT anyway. Otherwise, I think my horn is so easy to press it goes off on its own, just kidding, kinda.
Why do manufacturers use this horrible design? Saturn has a push button by your thumb. Come on.
Ive noticed mine is really hard to actuate as well. One day I was going down the freeway by myself trying to make it honk. I was trying everything to make it go with no result. About 10 secs after I quit, it just started going off on its own continuously for like 30 secs! By now Im back in traffic and people have to be wondering what the hell does this guy want. I hit it real hard and it stopped and thats the last time Ive heard my horn. Pretty much worthless.
