Get Your Motor Running V.2.0 Event!!!

Here we go! It is "preventive maintenance season" for our Vipers. To help, on March 21st, we will host our "Get Your Motor Running V2.0" event to help get your Viper ready to slither through the season! This event was a huge success last year so we decided to do it again! This year we have upgraded this event to also include a Detail Clinic and we will wrap up the day with private club Dinner!!!

If you plan to take part in ANY of the activities throughout the day, it is important that you read this post in it's entirety for instructions as we need you to RSVP!

    PART I - Maintenance Clinic
    Location: My Home, Raleigh, NC
    Time: 8:00am - 2:00pm

We will have 2 lifts available to perform oil, differential, clutch, transmission, and brake fluid changes. If you're not a maintenance guru and have never done this before, that's okay! We have plenty experience on hand to help out and you can learn a lot about your Viper! Our club VP Mike Reeves and member Al Humphries from Capital Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Garner will have a parts van on site stocked with the appropriate OEM oil filters, differential, clutch, transmission, and brake fluids available for purchase. They will also have a fluid disposal tank on site and will properly dispose of our used fluids for us! Otherwise, the only item you need to bring is your choice of motor oil! I believe most are running the Mobil 1 0W-40 formula these days. Below are the estimated oil fill capacities for the various generations (rounded up to the nearest quart):

    1992-2002 - 9 quart
    2003-2014 - 11 quart
Of course it never hurts to buy an extra quart!

I will provide FREE lunch to Carolina VOA members.

If you do not have any maintenance needs, you may still feel free to attend to lend a helping hand, or just "hang out" with us. We had a lot of folks do that last year.

    PART II - Detail Clinic
Location: Northridge Auto Spa, 7110 Sandy Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC
    Time: ~2:00pm - 5:00pm

Club members Hap & Heidi Merritt are the owners of Northridge Auto Spa and have generously offered to host a detail clinic for us! We will discuss proper washing, polishing, waxing, and scratch & swirl removal techniques. If you have some flaws on your Viper, we may be able to help....and if your Viper has a perfect finish, we'll inform you how to keep it that way! We are also accepting members who want to volunteer their cars to be used as specimens during the clinic, so if you have minor flaws in your finish that you are not able to feel with your fingernail (i.e. swirls, fine scratches, rub marks, etc), reply to have them professionally examined and likely corrected!

    PART III - Dinner!
Location: Nantucket Grill, 1145 Falls River Ave, Raleigh, NC
    Time: 5:15pm

Immediately following the detail clinic, we'll take 15 min drive to Nantucket Grill where we will enjoy a private club dinner. The club is subsidizing $20/pp toward your meal, but if you could contribute toward purchases beyond $20 AND help us out with gratuity, that would be very much appreciated. We'll have our Stryker contribution cans handy during dinner. We've done it this way a couple times in the past for other club meals, and everyone has been very generous so we will continue doing it this way. Thanks everyone for you cooperation!

    RSVP DETAILS

FINALLY! If you plan to attend this event, please RSVP ASAP with:

    1) The activities you will be attending (1 - Maintenance, 2- Detail Clinic, 3 - Dinner.....or post "ALL" if you plan to take part in all three activities)

IF you are planning to service or have your car serviced, please indicate:

    2) The YEAR of your car.
    3) Indicate which fluids you would like to have replaced (O - Oil, D - Differential, C - Clutch, B - Brake, T - Transmission). Or, simply post up "ALL" if you wish to have all fluids replaced.
    4) Finally, please let us know if you be purchasing fluids "on-site" so we can ensure we have adequate inventory. A simple "YES" if you plan to purchase on-site or "NO" if you plan to purchase them elsewhere will do. Again, motor oil will not be provided, so bring your own, but everything else can be purchased from the parts van at VERY COMPETITIVE prices.

For those coming from afar, a few of us have guest rooms available to accommodate your overnight stay. You are certainly welcome to them....or we also have some nice hotels in the area.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

I'll be there to hang out and help.

No maintenance work for me as I'm pretty much up-to-date. Not sure at this time if I'm bringing the Viper, might hitch a ride to the detail clinic and dinner with someone if that's cool.

    Patrick,

You're welcome to stop by my house that morning and ride over to Raleigh with me if you don't drive your Viper. PM me if you're interested.

If we have time I'll swap my diff fluid (I already have the fluid and friction modifier), otherwise I'll be a garage lackey.

I have some weak clearcoat on a couple of my wheels, and if Hap has some detailing magic he can work on them, I'll volunteer my Viper for that.

Really looking forward to this event again. The detailing and dinner are icing on the cake.

Brian, what can I bring along for lunch? Drinks, etc?

Thanks Craig....Janelle and I will have lunch covered. Unless you want to bring a few "cold ones" like you did last year, the refrigerator will be stocked.

Again, a BIG THANKS again for setting up the dinner arrangements for us!

    3. O, D, C, T I have never done any of these but the oil and brake. I have no way to know how old the other fluids are.
    4. YES

I will be by myself this time. I have some scratches and imperfections in my paint/finish so you could use my car.

I have been using 10-30. I talked to JonB about it and he told me to start running 0-40 and not to use the OEM filters. You guys agree as well?

Hey, Matt. As a suggestion, you might want to consider picking up a remanufactured ps pump as a backup. If there's any problem with removing the old pulley from your existing pump, it will be $50 well spent and you'll be right back on the road. Take it back if you don't use it.

Craig, next time you are by Costco, can you pick up some of those disposable towels like you did last year? Pick up a bunch of those boxes and whatever we don't use, I'll buy them....love those things. I already have plastic to put on the floor as we did last year. Thanks!

Will do. How are we set for nitril gloves? I can get a box while I'm there too.

    Hey Brian,

I'll be there for the maintenance day... I'm up to date, but I can help with fluid changes.

Not sure about the detail clinic, but will try to make it to dinner w/ the wife.

Is there a certain place you recommend that would have them for that price?
