    Viper Ta 1:36 vid.

Here's the vid of the lap I blew past the sound booth wot. Some traffic coming into turn 6, lifting slightly over the top of 1, for safety, it's scary, and passenger.

BTW a 1.36 with traffic and a passenger on your first trip to LS in this car is pretty bad ass.

    Great lap.

What I want to know if how Randy Pobst is able to hit turn 1 at around 139 to 140 mph? It looked like Darius was hitting 132-ish mph according to his speedo. I know Randy is a pro, but damn, that is flying while having to turn and getting ready to hit the brakes for turn 2.

You know that you are having fun in a Viper when your passenger is holding onto the "oh shit" handle and grinning (or screaming.)

I've watched his video many times. One thing I figured out is the lap where he's talking, the one they portray as the lap he sets the record in is definitely not. I talked to a guy at the track who was there when they were testing the car and I guess they were there for a few days getting that time. The lap where he's talking he short shifts the car bigtime coming out of 5 towards 6. I'm positive the lap he set the time on he wasn't talking to the camera every turn. As far as the speed on turn 1, no passenger, maybe better air and he's not lifting coming over the top of 1. I did lift slightly, just for safety of my passenger and myself, it's scary as shit coming over the top wot. I will do it driving solo at the June event. I'm confident I can get pretty damn close to his time. I rented the transponder so we will see. The run I did the 1.36 was the last session of the day, brakes were shot by then. Im sure they went through multiple sets of pads.

I agree. I've watched that video dozens of times and he definitely short shifts coming out of 5. I don't know how it works for Magazine tests but it also seems as if they were required to abide by the 92db limit that day. He talks about the "sound meter" as he short shifts it, which I never payed attention to until I started studying it so that I could learn to drive it fast.

Also, I've watched many of Randy's hot lap videos at LS and he takes slightly different lines in some of them. I'm almost wondering if they don't want us to know what the secret line is that grabs the record. Lol.. Many different drivers have slightly different lines for that track, and some drivers are very particular about giving out their "trade secrets"....

For anyone that hasn't experienced turn 1 at LS, it is one of the scariest turns, especially as a passenger. To think Randy did 1:30 with slicks is insane. A real testament to the vipers capabilities.
