Just one time, at the last session of the day I wanted to see how fast I could get one lap so I blew past the sound booth wot. Even though I hit a little traffic, one car slowed me down coming into turn 6 and with a 200lb passenger I managed to pull off a 1.36

I am looking for excuses why the ACR could not out run you, but can't find any. The GEN V is such a great car and your driving skills are impressive.

Excellent driving and video! You look very comfortable at the wheel. Can you give a little background on your experience at Laguna Seca, and with the TA?

1.36 is still crazy fast! I made it out there today and after the rain got a few good sessions in with a little wetness here and there. My brake pedal went to mush on my last session and that's with a fresh fill of Motul. How did your pedal feel after that session? I should've just went with the Castrol to begin with.

Did you run rbf600? I've never had a problem with it. I thought my TA brakes were the bee's knee's till I got it on the track. They felt "ok" for half of the 1st session then became mushy and had no real initial bite, more like a smash the peddle as hard as you can and wait till you slow down feel. The session's after that were all the same, which leads me to think the fluid has boiled and there's air in the system. The stock pads also look like a burger king whopper, flame broiled! I'm gonna upload the 1.36 lap, I can't figure out how to overlay a time stamp so I'm gonna time it from the corkscrew.

You need to do the timed lap ahead of all the cars so its clean. I wouldnt doubt you could get into the 1:35s, maybe even 1:34, specially since youre on better than stock tires. The times done by racecar drivers are insane. Doesnt help that there is a DB limit, at least sonoma doesnt have that. I have a feeling your more of an LS guy. Im 1mic at alley . Hope you upload more vids, you guys are living the dream and give me a reason to work hard!

Btw, that passenger did not look 200lbs, maybe 130. lol

Yes, rbf600. It's weird, I've never had a problem with it either. My last time on the track at Buttonwillow I had absolutely no issues. Hard pedal, great bite the whole time. What you are describing is literally exactly how mine felt. I've never boiled Motul, so it was very strange to say the least.

Not one Viper at the track yesterday for me. A couple of new Z06's...but they couldn't hang with the TA. I need to get me a set of r7's so I can really have some fun.

Nice driving! R7 looks like one hell of a tire! What brake pads are you using?

Darius, thanks for posting, looking at your lines and his lines thinking it would have looked the same if your guys swapped cars?? Kind of surprised he didn't lift earlier and let you by??

Hoping to get up there in late June with Speed Ventures for an unlimited db day, sure hope you'll be there to show me the way around LS. Best wishes, Mike

Was that your first time at LS with the car in that configuration? LS seems to me to be a track where one can reach higher speeds in a Viper in many semi-short straight sections, probably leading to less time to shed heat in the rotors. Plus that downhill braking on the front straight at really high speed. And, of course, driver braking technique , skill level and size of cojones all affect brake rotor heat.

Yes, first at LS with this setup. The mushiness happened after I started taking turn 1 at a very high speed and braking super late. That combined with not enough of a cool down lap probably did them in. Either way I'm going to switch to Castrol...I have heard nothing but amazing things about it. I'm going to Thunderhill in a few weeks we'll see how it goes.

I don't have much experience there, I've done about 4 track days there on a bike and maybe 5 in a car. I driven much more at Sonoma and Thunder Hill. AFM doesn't race Laguna so I didn't get to go there much. This was my 1st time on the track with the TA, not totally comfortable with it yet. Driving Sonoma tomorrow so I'm sure I will get better with it as time goes on. I was very comfortable with my c6 z06.

Thanks Mike I hope you can make it. It will be so much better without the sound limit.

Stock pads, from the looks of them now I think they are only really good for a half a day, completely shot after 2 track days for sure. I will have to get a new set after Sonoma tomorrow. The rears look fine.

I won't be happy till I get well under 1.33. Lol and yes my girl is under 200lbs, she's like 125 but she wasn't the one in the car when I did the fast lap. Just a random older guy that I offered a ride to after talking with him at the track. He was blown away.
