    Gas Cap/fuel door help

For those that have removed the fuel door assembly to paint or powder coat, have you had any issues with the fuel door not wanting to latch when reinstalling? Everything is lined up properly (it's all predrilled holes), but the arm on the inside of the fuel door is not latching when I close the door. It appears that the latch system (black assembly on the inside of the fender) is not grabbing the arm to lock the cap. It releases properly when pushing the bottom on the drivers door, so there is no issue there.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Anybody know how the door assembly comes apart? Mine is out of the car but I can't get it powder coated since I can't figure how to disassemble it.

    Jack,
I went with paint. My local dealer Diehl Automotive did a really nice job with the finish. I'll probably regret not going with powder coat (I'm sure I'll have durability issues at some point), but it looks awesome right now.

Below are a couple pictures of the door latch and mechanism that don't seem to be engaging.

Are you talking about separating it from the fuel tube?

Yes. Mines in the shop now and I was going to have them powder coat the door. Not quite sure how to separate the door from the fuel tube.

You just have to work with it. It will pull through.

Mine was just removed for finishing. They said the rear wheel had to come off. Sound right ?
