So my inspector emailed me this morning, and as much as I hate to "talk shit" about people/products... Here's the skinny from the inspector. And yes I'm willing to email it to anyone who's thinking of looking at this car.

Car has been in an extensive front end collision, every body piece replaced, resulting in mismatched paint on both doors *slight discoloration* as well as 2 different types of clear coat used on both doors.
Rear hatch is misaligned, suspect it is due to previously mentioned accident
All 4 tires are worn past wear bars, unsuitable/illegal for road use
Power steering pump leak from internal seal, sealed unit so entire pump needs replacement
    Oil leak from return lines
2 wheels have extensive curb rash
Interior center console has severe peeling

These were the major things. Inspector said the car drove fine with exception of the bald tires providing limited traction. It tracks straight and has no evidence of frame warp. Carfax report shows a total loss of the car which seems to be correct however autotrader does not show this accident.

Again this is the 2006 Black Coupe listed here: http://classifieds.viperclub.org/sho...k-coupe&cat=59

Again, my car is still available. Here's a walk-around vid before I pulled off the Seibon hood and replaced it with the factory one....

Yeah I hate to see nice cars treated like that, but someone who's looking for a car to fix up wouldn't have an issue with it. Todd from A&C Performance has a ridiculous deal of a car that I'm trying to snatch up before anyone realizes just what a good deal I'm getting and tries to throw money at him... Lol.

I believe I was offered that car a little while ago but I'm too chicken to go after it!

P.s. I have a tentative deal setup for a car pending inspection.

This car is immaculate in person. I've seen it many times, and Michael is a wheel customer of mine. You won't find a cleaner 2006 coupe, unless you find a new one.

Vipers aren't Corvettes, they do hold their value well, regardless of year. The fact that you had to post this thread to find one, tells us all about supply vs demand. There simply aren't that many out there for sale, and the cheapest cars are usually story cars or high mileage cars. You really do get what you pay for, imho.

    Couldn't agree more, NineBall.

Also, I think people should bear in mind what these "cheaper" cars are going to cost them in the future. 4 grand cheaper isn't less expensive when you find out the transmission was abused and it was run without oil.

And I consider an 06 coupe with 8500 to be very low mileage. If NineBall is vouching for its condition, then it must be killer and I consider it a steal at that price. If that includes the wheels than you are giving that away and someone is going to be very lucky.

kind of related question... what do you guys consider "high mileage"?

Good question. I feel like anything over 50 or so you would want to be really careful with who the previous owner has been. I know people on here whose 75k mi car I would take no problem. But when buying from a random dealer with no connection to the community, I get leery around 30k. But these cars are no means done at this point. Just that is when neglect can really present itself. I would like to hear other's thoughts on this too. As these are just my own data points in my mind, and are only guidlines at that.

I know when I decided to get a viper, and started looking, and really researching I set my mileage limit to 30k. I felt personally that was the number that if I bought from some random dealer or private party that wasn't on the forums or part of the owners community, that I was comfortable with.

Also, I figured that any neglect could be reversed, fairly cheap *relative* vs the initial cost of the vehicle. There comes a point where the price of the car is no longer a good deal vs the potential repairs in its future.

Like Vprbite said, it's really a lot to do with who you're buying it from, but if it's some generic dealership or some random guy... 30k is my absolute limit.

ah ok. My car just rolled over 60k km's or around 37k miles and I wanted to know if it would be somehow undesirable for someone to buy it in the future... I don't really care that much, since I love driving the car. I think not driving your car just so that your miles will be lower for resale, is like not screwing your girlfriend to save her vagina for the next guy.... not my idea of a good time.

If you take good care of it, and keep all the paperwork, history of regular maintenance, etc. I highly doubt it's going to deter anyone.

In a different thread I said that the owner matters. There are 40k mile cars I would take over 15k mi cars because of the owner. No question. For example, the way Sassy keeps his cars, it could have twice the miles that is does and I wouldn't worry one bit.

If I had seen Sassy's car first, I'd own a black 06 right now... That's just an insane deal... Can't watch his walkaround video at work... hnnnnnggggg
