He'll polish them properly and then apply a gloss clear coat powder over it. No orange peel, tougher than paint, wont dull the finish as much either. Just a suggestion since your not too far away and he'll actually do the job right.

800 is too aggressive to start. Especially if they already been "polished). After clear is off the face (try to keep stripping from barrels, leave clear on those if possible) go with an aluminum polish first. If that doesnt work well, go with a more aggressive pad with same polish, and then back to other pad, etc.
wet sand as last resort. If they already been polished, I dont think it'll take much to get those swirls out. Be careful removing polish residue as well. THAT can cause swirls even with cotton/terry rags.
Depends on the extent of grime on inner barrel. Usually any clear-coat safe wheel cleaner will get those clean with some elbow grease.
Here a few before/after. The face had some pretty deep dings, so actually had to strip, use die-grinder (3 steps), dual-action (5 steps), wetsand (1000,1200,1500,2000) then 3 steps of polish (about 15 steps)....I think I had about 40-50 hours total in this set of wheels. Yeah, I know. Crazy. But I enjoy doing it. More concerned on results than compensation for work/time involved. Yours won't be like that.

correct. No clear. As I had mentioned earlier, my personal preference is to not reclear polished. Especially if not a DD. Better shine. Easy to maintain and touch up. Others may/will disagree. My preference.

I got my wheels back from the wheel repair place and the clear coat looks much better. Im happy that they are more presentable but still pissed that they tried to pass off the first job they did to me, knowing it looked like complete shit. I hate paying people to do stuff only for them to screw it up..

Will you send the other 2 to them?

I dont think so..I may strip them myself and buy a spray gun and clear and do it myself. I have done some painting before in the past.

Nice, that is probably the way to go.

They did get the inside barrel of the wheel nice and clean, and I want to know how they did that,

Yes, when I strip the clear off the centers in a few weeks, I'm going to try and tape off the inner barrel parts. If that doesn't work, maybe I'll plastic dip the inner barrels jus to avoid all the polishing if the clear coat is removed.
