Can I install a ring and pinion from a Gen5 into a Gen 3 and if so what is invovled?

Better would be to use the whole diff. The Gen 3 diff is a weak piece.

I had a gen5 ring & pinion put into mine too. I bought a kit that comes with everything. Bolts, gears, and spacer.

You could also talk to Jon at Viper parts rack he knows his gears and will steer you in the right direction.

^^^What Roddy said. JonB at Parts Rack. I ordered the whole kit from him with a new diff pin for my 03. My local hot rod shop put it all in. It installed perfectly. Makes my car feel ALIVE. 3.55 is the gear I went with. Mine have only been in about 10 days...so I am still in the break-in period of 500 miles...but just driving around town if feels so much better than stock 3.07s. Do it!!!!

I'm planning to do these 3.55 gears also, I see so many great reviews on them.

Is it a straight swap to put a gen 5 complete diff into a gen 3? Are the half shafts different? Input spline?
