    Oil pressure

I did search briefly. Didn't see what I wanted to see.

    I own a used Gen 4, 22k miles.

Oil pressure gage on start up reads between 75-100psi. Regardless of throttle load for the first while, always between there. Seems high but I assume better high than low. Only after driving for quite a while will it settle down to 50ish at idle, but under load 75psi and greater seems to be the norm.

Any thoughts or comments my brethren and ladies?

Sounds identical to what mine does. When fully warmed up on a hot day, it drops substantially at idle (like 25-30 psi), but goes right back up to 50+ once you start moving again.

Yep...mine does the same. Seems to be Ok.

My Gen 3 was the same. Normal.

I see the same. Nothing wrong with high psi especially when cold

Good to know. I just received a PM from someone else and a mechanic saying other wise. If the sender deems appropriate, please post your commentary.

Billy C? I got a PM as well...went out and checked out the same solenoid under the front of my intake manifold that is leaking on his. Mine is dry.

    jvm728,
I have the same high oil pressure issue.
Also, I have a small, minor oil leak under my intake. Toward the front, under the manifold, there is a small solenoid that has something to do with the cam. The leak is coming from the solenoid. My tech says that the high oil pressure causes the leak. We installed a new "O" ring on the solenoid, but it started leaking again.
It's a small leak, but bothers the crap out of me.
My tech also says that to change the oil pump/pressure, or put "shimms" on it, you have to take the whole front of the engine apart.
Could you do me a favor, and, on your car, shine a flashlight under the forward part of your intake manifold and let me know if you see any oil?

Went for a drive. 165mph is fast.

No leak BillyC. After running around my idle pressure came down to about 45-50psi at the stop light.

Thanks everybody for your input. Glad this place can help people and not roast them for asking questions as newbies

My 2004 with 5000 miles on the motor was the same. At 15,000 miles, still the same. Was concerned gauge was wrong so added a temporary direct read mechanical gauge which read exactly the same - 80psi cold, 50 to 80 when warm depending on power. Normal.
