Fogging motor

Hi, I am starting my winter/spring to do list prior to getting the car out for the season. I know some people swear by it and swear against it, but what are the thoughts of fogging the engine with seafoam proir to an oil change at the beginning of the season?

I've let a lot of cars sit for some very long lengths of time(sometimes years), and I've never done it. It won't hurt anything, but probably won't help anything either.
