    well I bought a new 2013!

    Hello all,

Like the title says, I bought myself a new 2013 SRT with the track pack, red/blk, leather, red seat belts, msrp of 108K and some change, paid 71K plus fee's.
I think I got a pretty good deal and it wasn't to far away, i'm in Nor Cal and car was in Southern Cal.
Drove down to the dealership on Monday with my girlfriend, and then drove right back home, with the Viper of course

They had the SRT and a GTS, both red, the GTS had a MSRP of 134.5K and I could have purchased for 88K, in the end a chose the SRT as with tax and everything the SRT was still quite a bit cheaper, plus the SRT felt faster, I drove both. SRT was louder too, which I like, perhaps the lack of sound deadening and lighter total weight was the difference. I sure liked the look of the GTS interior though, that Laguna leather is beautiful!

Had a blast driving the 325 miles home, it was much more comfortable then I thought it would be, and 19mpg at 80 mph is pretty good for all this power, did I say this car is FAST! The torque is just amazing, power any where in the rev range, just amazing!
I'm not new to fast cars or vipers in fact, I sold my 2002 acr to get this viper, wish I had the space to keep both, but I do have a italian stable mate to the viper

Funny time at my first and only gas stop, it was 11;00pm by this time and the car still attracted a large crowd, for the life of me I could not figure out how to open the fuel door! I looked everywhere inside that car, couldn't find the answer in the owners book either in my rush, finally one of the cars admirers googled it for me! We both had a good laugh

I want to thank nineball for his videos and threads, that was all it took for me to buy, dodge should be giving you royalties

I will post some pics when I get back home, had to drive right back to LA for biz this week, man I miss the car already. did I say this car is fast!!

Congrats! That is an amazing deal you got. As Nineball would say, the track packs are the fastest!

Was it at champion or Glendale dodge? Those were the only two dealers that had them last I checked. Congrats on a sweet car. I know I am jealous.

Oh, and when you get home, drain all the oil, fill with Mobil1 and triple check your fill to make sure you're good, and check the level regularly through the 1st 2k miles or so.

    And yea, pics are must.

Do I really need to change the oil this soon? I have 350 miles on the car.

Some will debate, but in the opinions of the long toothed gurus around here, yepper. Those track pack cars were the shake out group on the first run of the production line, the first 150 made & tend to have a few gremlins, but hec that's a warranty is for, but that oil is quite old in there. Plus, we have enough reports of main bearing failures due to oil issues, mostly improper filling & checking, on a car of this value, swapping the oil is a no brainer asap. Many will include an oil change on delivery of a 2013, but I don't think anyone would argue moving to Mobil1, the blood of the viper engine since inception and dumping the Penzoil crap that they put in them now.

Make sense and why not do it. They did give me a voucher for a free oil change, but i'm sure they would use the original fill.
I have always used Mobil one in my 2002.

From one Track Pack owner to another, I say congrats and welcome. They really are special cars. I'm having MAJOR cabin fever from not being able to drive mine due to bad weather here. She's been sitting for a month now, with no end in sight. And, yes, the car is fast. I kept saying the same thing when I got mine, and I was coming from a Gen 3, not slow by any means.

This was a leftover new car? That's a helluva deal. Wow.
