Do I really need to change the oil this soon? I have 350 miles on the car.

    I thought the same thing.

Tell me any car that can come close to the looks and performance of the gen 5 Viper at 71K??
Even at full msrp I don't think you could.

Some will debate, but in the opinions of the long toothed gurus around here, yepper. Those track pack cars were the shake out group on the first run of the production line, the first 150 made & tend to have a few gremlins, but hec that's a warranty is for, but that oil is quite old in there. Plus, we have enough reports of main bearing failures due to oil issues, mostly improper filling & checking, on a car of this value, swapping the oil is a no brainer asap. Many will include an oil change on delivery of a 2013, but I don't think anyone would argue moving to Mobil1, the blood of the viper engine since inception and dumping the Penzoil crap that they put in them now.

One funny thing was my Viper still had the original window sticker along with a 30K dealer mark up sticker! But I got 37K off the original msrp not even including the dealer
    "market mark up" sticker

Bill P had the oil changed out on mine when he delivered it to me in October. I've only put 400 miles on it since then, but in the spring, I'll change it out again, since I don't know how or when it was changed during the first 7200 miles of its life.

They clearly deserved to have you steal it from them with having an ADM on it ever.

Make sense and why not do it. They did give me a voucher for a free oil change, but i'm sure they would use the original fill.
I have always used Mobil one in my 2002.

Change the oil at 500 miles then check periodically about every 500 to 1000 miles till you hit about 5000. These engines have been known to use oil initially due to being cast motors and can use some oil. Once past that you are good to go.

Mine showed the ADM in the actual paperwork when I bought it, showed my discount of $91,000. What the what ... looked crazy. I was like, for the discount I could buy a second one, lol.

Congrats on the new car. Great finding a good deal. Did you talk them down from there asking price?

I hope that doesn't bite you in the end for taxes in The Peoples Republic.

I had been eyeing that car for months and I went there in person and they did not budge on that 73,840 price tag. I bought my Jeep from there last year and half of me really wanted the car and the other half was hoping someone would pick it up so I don't have to think about it anymore lol

Congratulations and glad you are enjoying. The gas cap thing is funny. When I first had my 02, I was terrified someone would ask to see the motor because I had no frickin idea how to open the hood for the first few days. Ha. One of the lovely little quirks that make our Vipers so special.

I love the track pack SRT's. I don't want my Vipers too nice inside. I like the fighter jet feel of having just the right amount of leather.

Sounds like you got a great car at a great deal. Congrats!

I was just checking every CA dodge dealer I could find and Champion had the lowest price on there website, asking 73K, I got them down to 71K.
My local Dodge dealer is Stevens Creek Dodge, they couldn't even come close.

Maybe they went down a bit more as I was a cash buyer, or the car sat even longer.

swexlin: Thanks! Seems there are quite a few track pack cars floating around here. I think more than launch edition cars
