    Wheel Spacers

I'm looking to see who sells these, and if they are offered in varying thicknesses. If they have to be custom made, I am just going to go to JTSVP this Saturday and have my own made. It looks like 3/8" is what some have used, but I would like to try a little thicker, with the fronts being even thicker than the rears. Given the technology in the suspension, do any of you handling experts have recommendations on what the limits might be. I don't want to sacrifice function/safety for aesthetics.

Ipsco makes them , they are very helpful if you give them a call. Also interested to hear from those with experience on the subject.

I was wondering the same. The fronts are definitely tucked in there much more than the rears. The hood overhang is approximately 1" while the rear fender overhang is only 1/4" or so.

I got mine from JonB at Partsrack. He has several different sizes to choose from.

Would the largest (3/8th) make the rear wheels hit the rear quarter panel lip under long stroke suspension compression?

Is it really necessary to get long neck lug nuts for only 3/8th's change?

You have to careful on the thickness. I use them on rear so that I can mount an 18" G2 wheel with drag radials. I used 1" spacers and had to trim the liner so the tire did not rub.

The offset on the G2 wheel may be different. Check with Nineball, he knows the what-ifs of wheel mounting

also get the special lugnuts with the shanked nose to grab the threads fully. jon b has the right set up for you, I put 3/8 on front and the next size down on the rear per jon b

You went with 5/16ths rear? The difference between 5/16th and 3/8 is tiny, only 1/16th of an inch. Just curious.

    Year matters a bit, but:
    Wheels Matter
    Lowering Matters
    Suspension mods matter
    Non OE tires matter
Lug Nuts YES for anything beyond cruise-ins
1/16th of an inch (.062") can be the difference between occasional rub and no rub.

Advanced Track Rats PLEASE don't worry about fractional cosmetics. Spacers add extra load to tracked wheel bearings as well as studs.

JonB 360.837.3937 Its OK to call Mondays, but AM calls are iffy. All 4 time zones nail me first 3 hours Mondays due to my Pacific Time

This^^^ was always my impression. I was always taught that tracking with spacers was a No-No. Fine for driving around town but aggressive cornering with spacers is asking for heartbreak. At least that is what I was always told. Are you guys tracking with spacers and if so, no problems?

I did not pull the spacers off mine for CoTA the other day, but if I was beating on the car a lot in that way, there is NO reason to leave the spacers on the car.

Mark at Ipsco has sold .450" spacers for Vipers and mentioned Track use with proper studs and nuts is Not a problem .
Maybe some Track Rats can confirm thier experiances .

Be careful with these cheap spacers...they are NOT hub-centric they are wheel-centric. I learned there is a big difference between the two styles. With lug-centric wheels all the road forces are put on the lugs not on the hub as designed. This can cause all kinds of problems...bent lugs, vibrations, wheel damage, etc. I put a set on my car and the rear vibrated. I took the car to a race prep shop to investigate and I was informed these spacers would not pass race prep. They advised me to remove them from the car....which I did.

Doesn't the comp coupe use wheel spacers?

If it did...I'm guessing they were hub-centric.

Does anyone want 1" spacers. I believe I paid 170 last year, $75 to first person. They are Hub centric and like new .

Yes, on all 4 corners. These "don't use spacers" at the track fairy tales are getting old.
