We made a short video comparing exhausts on our 01 Viper GTS to a 98 Vette at a roll

My husband and I made a short video of the Viper and the Corvette's exhaust at a the top of their first few gears. It's interesting to hear the differences between the V8 and the V10. The Viper has a full belanger system an the Corvette has some kind of Corsa clone exhaust, so I'd like to think that they're both close to the best sounding versions of themselves with no internal/engine mods. Viper only pulls through two gears while the Vette gets three, because we were trying to pull the plug at something vaguely resembling the speed limit, and the Viper goes higher in each gear.

Interestingly enough, a ground hog chewed through my garage door (wood side-access door) and ate two wires off the transmission speed sensor by climbing up in the transmission tunnel (nothing else, thank goodness). It also gave the exhaust a pretty snarly sound when I ran the car (I first realized it happened when the CEL came on).

We caught the hog and he got a 15 mile home relocation to a site by the Delaware. I hope an eagle ate him.

Couldn't even wind the Viper up to 6000RPM.....or so it sounds. Viper sounded better by the way.

What camera did you use for this, did you use any external mic?

Viper sounds like a super car....Corvette sounds like my old 1988 Mustang 5.0...Viper all the way

Corvette sounds better at start up, viper sounds better pulling. I love the sound of a good V8 but the V10 is more unique...in short I like them both equally for different reasons

A little bit surprised how high pitched the Viper sounds, mine sounds much lower and deeper. I wonder if it's the mic and location?

It honestly reminded me of what the Viper tv show car sounds were like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMYmqouapy0 Skip to 5:38

Back! Ok, to answer some questions:

    1. This was done with Gopro Hero 3+ Blacks. There was no external mic, unfortunately. Yes yes, I know, I know.

    2. The Viper was run out to 6,000 RPM, or close to it (I worry about the limiter sometimes). Just because the shifts weren't banged out doesn't mean it wasn't at the top of the band.

    3. The Viper's start up sound is probably overwhelming the GoPro's mic. It really slams you in the gut in person, but it's really hard to capture on film. Even the one I did with my H4N didn't really do it justice at that point.

    Obviously the Viper sounds better...

Did you use a suction mount for the Go Pro or one of those stick on mounts and did you have a open or closed back on the Go Pro case?

Reason I ask is I will try and do the same with my car and post up a similar video, (when I can drive my car again)

I currently have stock headers, No cats, Belanger rear exit exhausts, That camera position looked great
One clip I found of my car was at 0.53 on this Video out with friends

@TitleMine: seems like you haven't sold the car, did you change your mind or just waiting for spring?

I am a viper owner, but I definitely like the vette's sound better. More muscle car sound. I changed my exhaust using a corsa and high ceramic cats and I have the vette sound.

No. The sound of my car is incredible. Maybe, I will do a video of the sound and post it.

    Lol.

Yeah, I have to say I think the LS7 has the Viper (any generation) pretty well licked in the sound department, but not this normal LS1.

They are not too bad at 350 degrees for a couple hours with potatoes and carrots either...
