    Speaking of 96 GTS....

In the preview for the new show on Fox "Empire" there is a super brief part with a 96 blue with white stripes... Awesome that a 96 is on a new show!!

My wife actually pointed this out to me and she was very impressed that she could identify a viper!

Perhaps its the rarer and faster 97' Blue and White. The extra weight of the 96's license plate stripes, holes in the oil pan, and the wheels that fall off hold the 96' back. The keen eye of the music moguls in this epic drama series clearly would not choose the ill equipped 96' for such uber status duty.

I believe your right. It is a 97. Those silver painted wheels were a great upgrade in 97.

A lot of the 96 wheels would crack or break. Trivia

Last week my wife was watching a show called "Mysteries of Laura"?? and she spotted a B/W GTS and it was in full view a couple of times. I too was shocked she caught it and called me in to the room to show me!

Anybody watch this show? Is it any good? Is the Viper showed a lot or just the occasional 2 second shot like in the preview?

Actually, in 1997 the Silver wheel with plastic center caps was STANDARD!
Polished wheels with metal caps were the upgrade.
    And both were cast wheels.

They would, once you put 1000HP to them. As the car was intended, I don't believe there were any issues. I cold be corrected though if I am wrong. The standard silver wheels were awful. They looked like plastic hot wheels. Dodge had never intended on making an B/W Vipers for 97 but, with the overwhelming demand for them, they produced another roughly 500 just because. They did resolve some glitches from the 96, such as the cast wheels and weather stripping. But to differentiate the two models, the stripes were removed. They knew what they were doing by doing that.

My 97 had the polished wheels with metal center caps, didn't know silver and plastic centers were standard that year. Thanks for the great info.

There was a 30sec ad for that show during recent football games and they showed the back of the car and the stripes went all the way through...but I can't find the proof on the internet.

97 B/W stripes were not REMOVED, but moved. A few mm wider apart, and NOT passing thru the rear license plate frame. All Blu 1997 Coupes had White stripes. ONE 1997 RT/10 Blue did not.

And IF you ordered a 1997 B/W, you had to pay extra for the White Stripes! Free in 1996. I think it was $1000 in 97, and that may have included the polished wheel option in a package. This was done to make the B/W more costly and exclusive, since B/W was initially promised as a "One Year Only" combo.

1997 B/W exist simply because CAAP could not complete all sold-order 1996s and had to carry-over almost 600 delayed cars as 1997s. More angry owners. THOSE carry-over 96-to-97 BW orders did not have to pay extra for their stripes. Some vocal 96 Buyers were angry at the diluted exclusivity. That 'sting' stayed around, and some original owners were even contacted by Dodge before the 2006 B/W FED Coupe was being planned! FACTS!

Someone with a 1997 B/W Moroni could check the stripe cost?

The MSRP for stripes on my previous 2002 GTS were $3,000.

If my wife saw a Viper on TV, in a film or commercial I'm not sure she would know what is even though one has been parked in the garage for years.

Poking a little fun Slither, have seen your comments on a few other threads. Remember a few thousand bucks premium for a certain year car means nothing in the grand scheme of life. Have fun with it, and I'll wear the shoe it fits real good.

Its all the fun for sure. Both cars if not all Vipers are special in themselves and even more special in the owners eyes. We all think or babies are beautiful, but, in reality....
