battery tender hook up ?

I used the below battery tender on my gen IV when letting the car sit thru the winter months. I used the adapter that connected permanently to the battery which enabled you to quick disconnect from the unit.

There was an open spot where I could run this quick disconnect thru the battery box out the back of the vehicle. The Gen V does not have the opening and I really do not want to run the chord thru the back hatch because it appears the interior lights will stay on without the hatch being closed.

Any suggestions ?

i run mine from the engine bay and the mounts there. no problems.

there should be Jump start point under the hood. Couldn't you connect there?

My hatch closes no problems not pinching the wire

I have always plugged into the cigarette lighter on previous gens. Would that be a problem on the gen 5?

I think Jack B hooked his up under the hood and ran the cord out through one of the side vents on his Gen 5.

There's a red post under the fuse cover under the hood on the driver's side and then there are a few screws in reach to ground to. I think one of the cigarette lighter style interior plugs on the interior is always on so that may work too.

Ran mine in engine bay, exiting driver side. Will post pix tomorrow.

You can bring it thru the gill (black grill) and it is hidden, then, you do not have to open the hood. Run it to the fuse/fuse block and you have also protected the charger output circuit. I used the Centech charger, but, it is the same principal. I have multiple "Battery Tenders", but, the Centech has won me over.

Yes. Mine was dead after 3 months in hibernation mode. So I dont trust it. I always leave it on a floating battery tender. Your battery will last way longer this way.

I have the Corvette (CTEK 3300) lighter charger. The power outlet on the center console is only powered when the ignition is in the ON or ACC position, so the CTEK will NOT work in this outlet. I have mine hooked up in the second power outlet which is located between the seat backs above the cup holders. This power outlet is connected directly by the battery and powered at all times (according to the owners manual)...

Last winter I only had it in hibernation mode for around 3 months and the battery was fine. This year I have both hibernation mode and the lighter charger plugged in...

Sounds like a good idea. Where do you run the cord out, through the back hatch or window?

Didn't want to pinch the cord so I just rolled the window down a few millimeters. The wife thought it was a bad idea though because the new car smell might escape...

The Cen-Tech battery tenders are cheap and effective and available at Harbor Freight. I've used them for years and pick up spares when the price drops a few more bucks or I have a 20% off coupon from the newspaper.

It's easy enough to splice in a cigarette lighter plug if you've got an "always on" socket.

I extended the Battery Tender wire and ran it through the rear center cut out and permanently attached it to the battery.

Not a big deal to extend the wire.
