Any idea what a 'Control Car' was in Viper production line? Chalk under valence

Valence removed in a 1992 viper as part of its planned paper headgasket replacement.

VIN # is 119

Under valence was one of the chalks that says 'Control Car #2'.
My guess is being a control in an experiment against some sort against some variation?

Has anyone come across this in their travels or knows the history?

Some employees also write things on the undercarriage, on my 92, was an engine number in chalk that didn't match my VIN number....some sketchings didn't make any sense to me...??? Guess people have too much free time ...??? my $.02

Yes or it might have been one of the cars that they do a full additional QC check. Should be ok

I've got writing all over my '01...on the interior of parts and the undercarriage. I've got pictures...some day I'll post'em all up.

I am willing to bet it is part of their Quality Control. Certain cars go for a test to ensure there are no squeaks, rattles, etc. But being back in 1992, that is just a guess.

Yes more than likely it's a vehicle that was selected for a quality control audit. I work at a Jeep plant and we were doing these audits back in 92'

Makes perfect sense to have the 'control' as short form for quality control.
