I've imported 2 mustangs (in 1998 and 2005) from the US, and would do so again (I've already put feelers out with a contact in southern Florida) but the £/$ rate has gone against us Brits since August 2014 @ $1.71 - to today @ $1.49, so its not really the best time to import. Europe however is a totally different ballgame with the euro at a 8 year high.

If I had the cash, I would be importing the 2010 white Viper from Germany with only 2800 miles on it. http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat..._EXPORT&noec=1 Its been for sale for months at 74990 euro, which is £54000 at todays rate.

Anyway, I'm getting my cash together and will update when I have more news

Have to say that the White Viper is stunning, do you still have to pay import duty on cars from Europe?

If you want a better exchange rate then the USA, just look North to Canada. The British Pound is doing very good against our Canadian Dollar. I think it is around $1.88 and rising.

Good point, are there any sites you can recommend that list Vipers for sale in Canada?

You can try kijiji.com, that is where I found my most recent car. Or their is www.autotrader.ca. Those are the only 2 I ever use.

As I mentioned before, feel free to ask if you'd like me to look at a car... I live in Miami so I'd be happy to help with anything from West Palm Beach to Homestead Florida. I am in the middle and drive all day anyway... shooting out to see a car is always a pleasure.

The way I read it on the DVLA website, the answer is NO. As long as the car has duty already paid in a EU country, and is either over 6 months old or over 6,000 km. You would only need to import (self - drive?) then MOT it before registering it.

Second-hand vehicles

You don’t usually have to pay VAT if you’re importing a second-hand vehicle and the VAT was paid in another EU country.

You’ll have to pay VAT if your vehicle is classed as a ‘new means of transport’ - ie it’s less than 6 months old and has done less than 6,000km (about 3,728 miles). HMRC will tell you if this is the case.

Strange .... Chris Graham called me last week asking advise on this very Viper but it went missing/sold from under him and now it apears at the dealer he was selling it to.....

If anyone has got any questions about this car I know a reasonable amount as I owned it for 4 years and had the kit developed for it as well as a full respray and re-trim.

Just letting you know I was scrolling through instagram photos of Vipers this morning and this car popped up in the feed. I left the guy a message as to where he saw it. Looks like a driveway, the top was on it.
